February is American Heart Month—a time to raise awareness about heart health and take action. One powerful way organizational leaders can show their support is by signing the CEO Pledge for Physical Activity, a nationwide campaign from @paamovewithus inspiring leaders to adopt movement-friendly strategies that enhance employee health and productivity. Here is some of what we know about work and physical activity: ?? Americans work long hours at sedentary jobs ? The average workday now exceeds 8 hours. ? More than 60% of workers are in sedentary or light-strength jobs. ?? Physical activity is good for business ? Boosts energy, creativity, and productivity. ? Lowers healthcare costs and absenteeism. ?? Physical activity is good for health ?Immediate benefits: Better sleep, reduced anxiety, lower blood pressure. ?Long-term benefits: Reduced risk of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, multiple cancers, dementia, and depression. By signing the CEO Pledge, an organization leader commits to: ?? Adopting strategies that create a culture where physical activity is encouraged. ?? Leading by example by engaging in regular physical activity. How to take action: ?? Are you a CEO, executive director, or organizational leader? Sign the pledge today. ?? Last week, we had the privilege of attending the Inaugural USAF Honor Guard Wellness Symposium: Empowering Strength, Stamina & Resilience. A huge thank you to Rob Wilkins for including us in this event and big congratulations on your award. We were grateful for the opportunity to spend the day listening and learning from all of the speakers, including military leaders, wellness experts, and healthcare professionals, who shared actionable insights and strategies to empower service members to perform at their best, both physically and mentally. Even better was the opportunity to interact with members of the honor guard. #MoveWithUS Read --> https://lnkd.in/enKXjCVz Thomas Richards Ayanna McKnight, MPH, CPH Rob Wilkins Michael Stack Laurie Whitsel, Ph.D., FAHA

Physical Activity Is Good for Your Heart! ?? ?? February is designated as Heart Month in the United States to raise awareness about heart disease, the leading cause of death in both men and women. On today, Wear Red Day and the 7th day of Heart Month let us remind of you the importance of regular physical activity for heart health and overall health and wellness. Regular physical activity helps: - Strengthen your heart - Improve lung function - Lower blood pressure - Decrease LDL, or "bad" cholesterol, in your blood - Improve blood sugar - Reduce feelings of stress - Control body weight - Reduce heart disease risk factors - Reduce heart attack risk - Lowers risk of chronic disease - Improve sleep - Make you feel good about yourself How much activity do you need? Adults should aim for at least 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity, or a combination of both, preferably spread throughout the week. And add moderate- to high-intensity muscle-strengthening activity (such as resistance or weights) on at least 2 days per week. Walk, run, dance, skate, jump rope, garden, play sports, swim... Any type of physical activity is good if it makes your muscles work more than usual! #MoveWithUS #MoveYourWay American Heart Association

We are thrilled to welcome Dominique Dawes Gymnastics & Ninja Academy (DDGNA) and the National Association Of Chronic Disease Directors to the 2025 Physical Activity Alliance Board of Directors. The Dominique Dawes Gymnastics and Ninja Academy is a groundbreaking concept, combining the discipline and grace of gymnastics with the excitement and challenge of ninja fitness training as a vehicle for our children to build physical literacy and embrace an active lifestyle. The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors core membership is made up of, the 59 State and Territorial Health Department Chronic Disease Directors and their staff who protect the public’s health through primary and secondary prevention efforts and work “upstream” on root causes of chronic conditions. In addition, NACDD unites 7,000 chronic disease professionals across the United States working in state tribal, territorial health departments, nonprofits, academia, and private industry to promote health and reduce the burden of chronic disease. Welcome Adam Zeitsiff and Alice Jaglowski! We look forward to your leadership and working with you this year! CEO/Founder, Move to Live More | Past President, Physical Activity Alliance | Published Author | Podcast Host
Taking time to reflect as I complete my 3-year term as President-Elect, President and Immediate Past President of the Physical Activity Alliance. It was a true honor to help lead the nation's largest coalition of organizations dedicated to promoting health & wellbeing through physical activity. We have achieved such tangible progress toward making physical activity referral a standard of care in the U.S. healthcare system. By 2027, all healthcare providers will have the tools and technology to capture patients' physical activity levels in the electronic health record system and better support them in meeting physical activity guidelines. I am grateful for the past and optimistic for the future, with huge confidence in PAA staff and Board leadership continuing to do the hard work to make physical activity more accessible and integrated into the day-to-day lives and health of all people.
