PHX Startup Week feels like a homecoming each year. This year was no different, though it seemed to come at a time when many of us needed to be reminded of the power of community and the magic of mutual inspiration. There were so many moments that reignited my curiosity and passion that I will fail to capture it all, so I will just share some of my appreciation and wonder.... ???? Katie Sieker - You have a heart of gold! Thank you for all the effort you put into this event year over year for the benefit of the greater community...especially through the chaos of 2024! Witnessing how you wrangle, organize, and connect resources...and still somehow are able to be present and poignant on the panels is beyond me. ???? Clate Mask - Accountability. Humility. Gratitude. You hit me straight in the gut, in the best possible way! Thank you for your clarifying candor, your powerful truth telling, and for giving us the gift of your hard-won insights. I'm still working through all of the impact points you shared, but will continue to use this as a touchstone: "Get crystal clear on your values, purpose, mission....then hire for it, coach to it, fire to it." ???? Heidi Jannenga, PT, DPT & Amy Armstrong - LOVED the parallels between nonprofits and startups and the transferrable lessons. Culture, mission, and the sometimes required scrappiness that comes from funding restraints. Thank you for showing by living meaningful design options at the intersection of purpose, impact, and growth. ???? Zach Ferres - Appreciated the realness and wisdom behind the pivot points in your professional journey and how you have been able to ignite innovation and tend to its impact along the way. Reminding me of the ripple effect of one person's drive on the greater ecosystem. ???? Hamid Shojaee & Susan Sly - Dynamic duo laying down a powerhouse of a fireside chat! So many meaningful take-aways that could not have been cultivated if it weren't for the wealth of your experience. It made me think a lot about the instincts and awareness that drive decisions through growth, scale, and exit. ???? Aly Saxe & Maggie Sanchez - Thank you for breaking into conversations that need to be had. Even beyond the insights shared in speaking directly to the necessity for the inclusion of women in venture, it was inspiring to see the way you invited and held the community in attendance in the sharing of heart-invoking stories, all leading to intentional action forward. #YESPHX

Amazing! Some may even say...FANTASTIC ?? #yesPHX
We are incredibly grateful to the NBA Foundation for its commitment to supporting the SEED SPOT Youth Entrepreneurship Program in Phoenix. This support will enable us to reach more young people, amplifying their voices, sparking their curiosity, and giving them the tools to bring their ideas to life. This partnership is about more than just closing the opportunity gap—it's about building a real-world platform for young people to showcase their vision, build future-ready skills, and drive impact within their communities. We're thrilled to have the @NBAFoundation and the @Suns as partners in this mission, and we're excited for the future we'll shape together! ???? #YouthEntrepreneurship #SocialImpact #Phoenix #NBA #PhoenixSuns #SEEDSPOT #Innovation #Community National Basketball Association (NBA)

If you don’t already know what’s taking shape with Arizona’s leading CleanTech innovators, here’s a quick recap of what you missed #PHXStartupWeek ... What’s next for solar technology and the innovations crucial for advancing the industry as a whole - Cody Van Cleve, SunFlex Solar What non-metallic batteries are, how they’ll revolutionize energy storage, and what a circular battery economy could look like - Serhii (Serge) Kaminskyi, SorbiForce What the Climate Action Plan entails from the Arizona Governor’s Office of Resiliency, and the risks Arizona faces by not investing in sustainable technologies and climate initiatives for the long term - Mac Wodicker How carbon capture & conversion technologies complement today’s renewable energy efforts, and how Carbon Utility is upcycling atmospheric CO2 into low-emission products like carbon fiber - Jay Foster #DecadeForDAC ...and plenty more! While we each bring a unique vision of the future to the conversation, one thing we all agreed on is that we must do more today, not 25 years from now. Each of us is working to create a more sustainable future and build impactful organizations in the process, but the coming years will be pivotal for technology, policy, and finance to align in a meaningful way. I’m grateful to be part of the growing conversation in Arizona’s #cleantech and #sustainability community. Big thanks to PHX Startup Week, Katie Sieker, Vincent Orleck, and everyone who made this event happen. I know what you’re thinking, and yes, I’m super-serious about Smokey The Bear because I’m also wild about wildfires. But that’s a story for another time! #yesPHX #Startups #Sustainability #Entrepreneurship #Energy #CarbonCapture #SolarEnergy #Resiliency

Loved having you all with us at #PHXStartupWeek last week! #yesPHX
Last week I was reminded (as happens every time) of the energy of new and longtime founders in our Phx startup community. I had a blast chatting with Lynne Nethken, Autumn T. Johnson and Dan McOmber on the vast opportunity that exists in the #CleanTech space, especially when it comes to #access...and an audience full of eager innovators. This crowd, paired with impact investors like Tanaha Hairston, MBA and RISE, are exactly the combo we need to innovative magic happen. I have hope, y'all.

As PHX Startup Week 2024 ends, Phoenix's startup community looks stronger than ever. Katie Sieker and team?demonstrated brilliantly how people coming and working together fosters community, networking, and, most importantly, the opportunity to learn and share ideas to help new businesses grow faster and more sustainable. We encourage entrepreneurs to join this supportive community and use the resources available to them. Thank you, Lynne Nethken and Autumn T. Johnson, for helping to create new possibilities in clean energy and climate technology, making PHX lead the way, and attracting talent and new investment. Thanks to Aly Saxe and Maggie Sanchez, who led an important talk about getting more women involved in venture capital with a clear message: having different voices in investment decisions leads to better results. While things are getting better, there's still work to do to make venture capital more inclusive. Learning from Leaders?sessions included expert panels with Heidi Jannenga, PT, DPT, Amy Armstrong, Dan Tyre, Zach Ferres, Vicki Mayo, Susan Sly, Clate Mask, and many more, who all shared valuable lessons about building successful businesses. I can't think of any other place I'd rather be than in PHX, Arizona, to support creating tomorrow's business community and helping startup companies?succeed.
