Machine vision company STEMMER IMAGING has updated its leadership structure to drive commercial growth, innovation, and operational excellence: #Photonics #Vision
Since 1954, Photonics Media has been the world’s leading resource for the photonics industry. Publisher of Photonics Spectra, BioPhotonics, Vision Spectra, and the Photonics Buyers’ Guide, our audience of academics, researchers, manufacturers, and end users is the largest verified audience in the photonics industry. We also maintain a thriving web presence with 2.8 million page views annually on our photonics.com website. A staff of about 50 employees currently works at the company’s headquarters, Laurin Publishing Co., in Pittsfield, Mass., and its branch offices. The company also includes several contributing editors located around the world and an editorial advisory board of leaders in the photonics industry. Over the past six decades, Photonics Media has fostered a tradition of innovation that has defined the industry. As its publications grow — following photonics technology into an ever-widening range of applications — the company adheres to a philosophy of editorial quality and integrity, maintaining an international reputation for leadership in photonics. Through the years, the company’s mission as laid out by founder Teddi C. Laurin has remained unchanged: “to actively encourage progress and not simply reflect it, for all of us in the photonics industry can best achieve success by sharing our knowledge, our insights, and our visions for the future.â€

One promising new strategy to remove speed restrictions in hard drives, pursued by researchers at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and TU Dortmund University, is to use short current pulses and spintronic effects to readout magnetic states. Instead of electrical pulses, the team used ultrashort terahertz (THz) light pulses to enable the readout of magnetic structures in just ps. The researchers generated THz pulses at the ELBE (Electron Linac for beams with high Brilliance and low Emittance) radiation source at HZDR. Using the THz radiation, they analyzed the magnetization of wafer-thin material samples consisting of two extremely thin, superimposed layers: #Photonics #DataStorage #Light
