We recently shared a paper over on our blog about MICRON researchers at Yale University (Dr. Eric Song, et al.) who discovered a previously unknown lymphatic drainage system connecting the back of the eye to the brain. This discovery is not only exciting, but also potentially groundbreaking for how central nervous system diseases are treated. Read more on our blog here: https://lnkd.in/gsR4sD_d

In the recent paper published?“Tau Modulation Through?AAV9 Therapy Augments Akt/Erk Survival Signaling in?Glaucoma Mitigating the?Retinal Degenerative Phenotype,” researchers from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia utilized MICRON ocular imaging technology to investigate the impact of Tau protein modulation on retinal neurons under normal and experimental glaucoma conditions.? ? As glaucoma remains a leading cause of blindness worldwide, understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms is crucial for developing targeted therapies. This work supported by MICRON technology, represents a significant step forward in elucidating the role of Tau in glaucoma pathology and highlighting the potential of Tau-targeted gene therapy approaches. Looking forward to the next Journal Club Series presentation hosted by Striatech GmbH! #striatech #VisionResearch #OptoDrum #RodentResearch #MICRON #PhoenixMicron
?? We are thrilled to announce our upcoming Journal Club with Anna Matynia (University of Houston College of Optometry) on “Visual Function with Aging in Normal and Alzheimer’s Disease Model Mice” Join Anna’s insightful talk on the critical role of rod, cone, and melanopsin-expressing intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) in aging and neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s. These cells are conserved from mice to humans, making their study highly translatable from bench to clinic. Early degeneration of ipRGCs is seen in both mouse models and human retinas. Their role in visual acuity, contrast sensitivity, and the pupillary light reflex can be assessed using non-invasive, repeatable tests. Anna will discuss these effects and the potential of ipRGCs as early biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease. Learn more and register for the event here: https://lnkd.in/eDUjYcCY ? As always there will be time for a Q&A at the end of the talk. ?? Thursday, July 11, 2024 ?? 7:00 am PT (Pacific Time - North America) 10:00 am ET (Eastern Time - North America) 4:00 pm CET (Central European Time) Hope to see you at the Journal Club! #Striatech #OptoDrum #eyeandvision #Ophthalmology #VisionResearch #Alzheimers #ageing #biomarkerassessment #biomarker #agerelatedhealth #neurodegenerativedisease #visualacuity
