Meet Casey, who’s thriving in our supportive environment! The bonds formed here are just as valuable as the skills learned. Reflecting on their time at Philly Shipyard, Casey shared, “My most memorable experience was finishing up the academy and finally getting out into the yard. I challenged myself and saw real progress. The apprenticeship taught me to learn from my failures and strive to be better every day.” ?? What sets our program apart? It’s the amazing community! Casey emphasized the camaraderie among apprentices: “The best thing about being an apprentice is being surrounded by people in my shop who want to see me succeed. We not only honored their achievements, but also commemorated the 20th anniversary of our apprenticeship program, during National Apprenticeship Week. What a time it was to be an apprentice grad! Happy National Apprenticeship Week! This year, National Apprenticeship week is extra special for Philly Shipyard because it coincides with the 20-year anniversary of Philly Shipyard’s program. To pay tribute, we’re thrilled to spotlight the rich history of the program and our current apprentices and can’t wait to “top” it off with a big celebration later this week. In the meantime, we’re introducing you to some of our apprentices, who are building big careers here at Philly Shipyard. One of our apprentices, Julian C, shared: "Welding is a fun, cool, hands-on trade. A skill that can take you anywhere in the world if you're dedicated." From those unforgettable moments—like seeing a flawless test plate with about 100 stacked welds—to the opportunities for learning and growth on new machines and projects, our apprentices are truly making their mark. As Julian said, "I enjoy being able to step back from a finished job and say, 'I did that!'"
