Interested individuals can apply to and submit completed applications to join Cohort 17 which will start in Jan 2025. The PSI Apprenticeship offers apprentices students the opportunities to learn and build on shipbuilding trade skills while also earning college credits, as a full-time employee. Apply with little to no experience and if accepted you’ll join our hands-on learning environment, mastering shipbuilding from some of the nation’s finest skilled workers at Philly Shipyard. We're shipbuilders at heart, and we have a soft spot for cars, too. For two months, cars of all kinds poured into the shipyard. Cars and trucks, actually. And, all for a good cause. Philly Shipyard and friends collected and donated over 5,000 Hot Wheels cars to the to help fulfill the "bucket list" wishes of Sabrina, the niece of one of our beloved employees. One of her heartfelt wishes is bringing joy to other sick children through the donation of new, packaged Hot Wheels cars in memory and honor of a child with cancer, Eli. In an epic donation handover, Sabrina was taken for a ride in a life-sized hot rod, the "Cancer Slayer" with Eli's father, Paul, who tells us Hot Wheels cars were one of Eli's favorite things. Today we began production on a new fleet of Matson, Inc. Aloha Class containerships! Philly Shipyard and Matson representatives gathered and watched as the first plate of steel was cut, marking the official start of production and life for these vessels. This fleet of containerships will operate by either conventional marine fuels or liquefied natural gas (LNG) and incorporate other green ship technologies that will work towards Madison's goal of educing GHG emissions. PSI's is proud to contribute to this aligned mission with our friends at Matson. Farewell "Patriot State!" Philly Shipyard has officially delivered the second NSMV to Maritime Administration (MARAD). "Patriot State" will soon begin its journey to Buzzards Bay where maritime cadets will receive world-class training in the newest state-of-the-art vessel of the fleet. Today's delivery marks another important milestone in the NSMV program and serves as well deserved recognition for all involved.
