This partnership is a major milestone in Builds Bio+’s evolution into an international organization, creating a dynamic ecosystem that harnesses the strengths of the UK and US life sciences markets. This expansion unites 11 founding members from industry, government, and academia to drive innovation and growth across the UK and Europe, while building stronger transatlantic ties with the Greater New York and Philadelphia regions. A follow-up panel, moderated by Ryan Matenchuk, CEO, Galileo Labs, presented findings from the 2024 London Study Tour, which saw life sciences leaders from London and NYC come together to visit and learn more about life science projects and new developments in the vibrant areas of London, Oxford and Cambridge. We wrapped up the late morning with an inspiring look at collaboration and innovation across industries and heard from a number of biotech startups that are driving growth in the Metro NY area. The Industry Cross-Pollination & Collaboration panel spotlighted cross-industry innovation in bioengineering, bioart, climate, and health. Moderator Kidd Duhe Solomon, M.P.H., Assistant Vice President at New York City Economic Development Corporation, led a discussion with Casey Lardner, PhD, Executive Director of Genspace NYC; Elena Soterakis, Co-Founder, Executive Director, and Curator at BioBAT Art Space; Paul Rubery, Executive Director of Biodesign Challenge; and Ahmet Hamdi Cavusoglu, Program Director at Merck Digital Sciences Studio on how NY and NJ initiatives are mobilizing resources to tackle global challenges through hard tech and bioengineering.
