Exciting news! ?? Two Wilmington schools, Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy and The Bayard School, now have #AHN Chill Rooms?—creating calming spaces dedicated to student well-being. This incredible project, a collaboration between the Wilmington Learning Collaborative (WLC), Christina School District, Allegheny Health Network (AHN), Nemours Children's Health, and Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield Delaware, marks the first AHN Chill Project? implementation outside of Pennsylvania. These rooms, designed in partnership with IKEA, offer a multi-tiered program including individual and group counseling, support groups, and more, directly addressing school-related stress. The AHN Chill Project? aims to improve student behavior, enhance educator and parent well-being, and foster a trauma-informed school culture. We're proud to be part of bringing this vital mental wellness support to Wilmington's students and staff. ICYMI: Last month, Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement released results of a recent survey showing the impacts federal funding freezes could have on Delaware nonprofits. The survey revealed that nearly 90% of organizations are deeply concerned, with many fearing staff layoffs, program closures, or shutdowns. ?? MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: #FOTH25 CONCLUDES AFTER HISTORIC ADVOCACY EFFORT After four transformative days, Foundations on the Hill 2025 has officially concluded! This pivotal moment for philanthropic advocacy brought together over 365+ sector leaders for what has proven to be our most impactful FOTH to date. ?? BY THE NUMBERS: - 365 total participants from 44 states - Over 200 congressional meetings completed - 25 expert speakers and session facilitators - Countless new relationships and connections formed ?? KEY OUTCOMES: - Multiple offices co-sponsoring the bipartisan Charitable Act (H.R.801 /S.317) - Several key committee staff requested additional data on our policy priorities - Important new relationships were established with freshman offices ?? WHAT'S NEXT? - Follow-up with legislators - Continue sector-wide advocacy efforts - Keep the momentum going! The most powerful moments came when our advocates connected national policy priorities to local impact stories, transforming abstract discussions into concrete community benefits that resonated across partisan lines. This week wasn't just about these few days in Washington - it was about laying groundwork for ongoing relationships and advocacy. The connections established will serve as pathways for continued influence as critical policy discussions evolve throughout the year. ?? The “District Download” I took time out to attend Foundations on the Hill(FOTH) this week in Washington, DC. FOTH was presented by United Philanthropy Forum, Council on Foundations and Independent Sector. It was an opportunity to visit with members of the Delaware Congressional delegation and their staff and agency’s to share information on the work of Philanthropy Delaware, Inc. and our efforts to partner with Federal, State and municipal government. The importance of retaining and expanding the Charitable Act was emphasized and concerns around the impact of current Executive Orders and the Federal funding freeze on our nonprofit grantees. We will continue to monitor Congressional and current Administration activity on behalf of our Members and their grantees. #FOTH25 #PhilanthropyAdvocates #FoundationsOnTheHill
