The Rotary Club of Philadelphia has proudly volunteered with LSH, which has been a beacon of hope in Philadelphia since 1902. Lutheran Settlement House supports families experiencing homelessness, individuals facing domestic violence, seniors striving for independence, and families in need of their next meal. Meet Ernie Peterson, a dedicated Rotary member from the Rotary Club of Deland (Breakfast), Florida ??? As a child in the 1950s, Ernie watched the Olympics on his family’s black-and-white TV, dreaming of attending someday. “I sat there absolutely fascinated and thought, ‘You know, it would be nice to attend one day.’” Flash forward to #Paris2024, where Ernie is attending his sixth Olympic Games as a volunteer! From helping spectators find their seats to assisting VIPs at the Eiffel Tower and working the opening ceremony, Ernie truly embodies the Olympic spirit. He believes the Olympics and Rotary share similar values: cultural exchange, internationality, and a desire to do good in the world ????
