Orchard Assistant: this role is 30 hours/week and primarily field-based, supporting our community orchard partners and the Learning Orchard at regular work days, and also supports our educational workshops and youth programs. ???? ?? Finance and Operations Coordinator: this is a new role at 35 hours/week, primarily office-based and remote, with one day per week at POP’s office at The Woodlands. You will mainly be working “behind the scenes” to help with financial, fundraising, and administrative tasks that allow our programs to run smoothly. Must love spreadsheets! ???? Great to see attention being brought on the Land Bank. Since last spring, Philadelphia Orchard Project has been part of an informal coalition advocating for reform of this agency and a reaffirmation of the premise that urban agriculture is a viable and positive long term use for land. Protecting and preserving green space *for community use* must be balanced with the need for land for affordable housing: these needs (and the groups advocating for these things) should not be pitted up against each other. https://lnkd.in/eEvV2avz

The City opened an application for?Park/Water Projects Technician, which is a position?that Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) hires for a variety of jobs including inspector positions in our Street Tree Office, and field positions on our Natural Lands Team. This application is only?open until 2/16/24.?PPR may be hiring staff from this list during the 2024 calendar year. https://lnkd.in/e5jM_7Sz This is a?civil service job?and has a different hiring process than folks might be used to.?Here are the steps: - Applicants apply for a position that may be available at many different City departments - If an applicant meets the requirements they are invited to take an exam to determine their skill level - Applicants who pass the test receive a score and are added to a hiring list that goes in order of the score they received on the test - When a position opens in a Department the applicants at the top of the list are invited for an interview - Applicants who do well in an interview are offered a job The City only posts opportunities to take this exam every few years, so if you don't want this job now but might in the future, you should still apply!
