Philadelphia Legal Assistance provides free civil legal services to low-income people in Philadelphia.

关于我们

Founded in 1996, Philadelphia Legal Assistance (PLA) provides free civil legal services to over 6,000 individuals and families in Philadelphia who cannot afford an attorney each year. We help people going through some of life’s greatest challenges: from violence within a family, to the loss of a home passed down through generations, and the loss of a job that threatens being able to put food on the table. PLA knows that one legal problem can quickly impact multiple aspects of your life, and assists with a variety of civil legal problems to provide holistic care.

PLA's Eviction Diversion Supervising Attorney, Catherine Anderson, was quoted in this article in the Inquirer detailing the program. • As we close out the year, we’re deeply grateful for your support of Philadelphia Legal Assistance, which has empowered us to stand with workers, domestic violence survivors, tenants, and homeowners during their toughest times. However, a 17% cut to our 2025 federal funding puts critical legal services—like safe housing, protection from abuse, and unemployment benefits—at risk for hundreds of Philadelphians. With demand for our services as high as ever and funding sources becoming more competitive, we need your help now more than ever. This is your last chance in 2024 to make a tax-deductible donation to sustain our mission and support those who rely on us most. Visit philalegal.org/donate to make your gift now. Thank you for your continued support of PLA!?
