Today, NJIT hosted the New Jersey Diverse Business Advisory Council’s gubernatorial candidate panel discussion on the future of small and diverse businesses. It was a fantastic event, and I was honored to represent the New Jersey Subcontractors Association as a board member, as well as Phil Neto Construction as one of its owners. It was encouraging to hear many candidates align on key issues affecting New Jersey’s labor force and construction industry, emphasizing the need for policies that foster growth, stability, and opportunity within the sector. #NJConstruction #future

As we continue our focus on Women in Construction this month, we’re shining a light on a historical figure who paved the way for women in our industry: Emily Roebling Emily entered the construction industry in the late 1800s. After her husband, Washington Roebling, was tasked with overseeing the construction of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1869, but he soon fell ill. In 1870, Emily stepped into the role of assistant engineer, taking over many of his responsibilities. She played a critical role in the bridge's construction, mastering complex engineering concepts and working alongside the construction team and government officials. Her work at a time when women were largely excluded from engineering and construction fields makes her a pioneer of the industry. #Construction #PhilNeto #History #ConstructionHistory

Meet Christopher Neto, President and CEO of PNC. Like his father who founded the company in 1983, Chris was always a go-getter, having worked in the family business since he was just 17 years old. When the time came for Phil and Aida to take a step back, Chris assumed leadership of PNC with a degree in finance from Montclair State University, and put his young fresh spin on the business.
