To close out Engineers' Week 2025, we announced our 2025 EDGE Grant recipient from Old Dominion University! ? This team, including four Phi Rho sisters, is designing & building an Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. Utilizing a combination of skills from their engineering courses and their own creativity & innovation, the team is developing two quadcopters with unique attributes. The EDGE Grant is allowing the team to purchase key components for the quadcopter, including all of the pivotal parts for the outside casing and internal workings. Today we're celebrating joining in the celebration of Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day - an Engineers' Week initiative - by highlighting our DreamGirls grant ?? The DreamGirls Program (formerly the DreamGirls Initiative) was founded in 2015 by Phi Sigma Rho founder, Rashmi Drummond. The initiative set out to inspire middle school girls to pursue STEM careers by showcasing the meaningful and fun professions of real-life women. This past December, Phi Sigma Rho National Sorority took ownership of the DreamGirls program and is continuing its mission by working with chapters and Phi Rho alums to offer DreamGirls events in local communities across the country. The Phi Sigma Rho Foundation supports this program through the DreamGirls Grant. These grants support DreamGirls events hosted by Phi Rho active chapters or alum organizations through financial support for educational and leadership activities and supplies to use at DreamGirls events. Together, Phi Rhos are building a future without blood cancers. ?? Since 2015, the Foundation has united chapters' philanthropic efforts to educate and bringing awareness to leukemia & lymphoma. These efforts culminate each fall as sisters across the country participate in the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night campaign. Since beginning this effort, Phi Rhos have come together as philanthropists to raise more than $276,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's fight against blood cancers! The Texas Leadership Scholarship is provided by the Houston Alumni Organization Chapter Fund through the Phi Sigma Rho Foundation. The award is given to a sister of the University of Houston or Texas A&M chapters of Phi Sigma Rho National Sorority who is a leader in their chapter and the community. This sister demonstrates leadership through the mentorship and encouragement of others, as well as through meaningful participation in Phi Sigma Rho. Iliana is an active member of the Upsilon chapter at University of Houston. She is working towards her B.S. in Electrical Engineering with an expected graduation in spring 2026.
