Last week at the IAMPHENOM conference, I had the privilege of hearing Simone Biles tell her story. And let me tell you—if Simone were a recruiter, she’d be snatching up top talent like it’s Olympic gold. Here’s what we can learn from the GOAT: 1. Stick the Landing. Simone doesn’t just finish—she sticks it. In recruiting, it’s not just about finding a candidate. It’s about ensuring they land smoothly in a role where they thrive. A bad fit? That’s a deduction. 2. Master the Basics. Simone’s routines are built on fundamentals. The same goes for us. Vet thoroughly, ask the right questions, and don’t skip the small stuff. Consistency wins gold. 3. Adapt Under Pressure. Mid-routine and something goes off? Simone adjusts without breaking stride. In recruiting, when hiring needs shift or candidates back out last minute, flexibility and quick pivots keep us in the game. 4. Consistency is Key. Simone doesn’t win because she’s flashy—she wins because she’s consistent. Great recruiters build strong pipelines, nurture relationships, and show up every day. 5. Go for Gold. Simone doesn’t settle for ‘good enough.’ Neither should we. Find candidates who don’t just fit the role but elevate the team. That’s how you bring home the gold.
