In 2021 we started as a small outreach program within Phenix Technology, Inc. based on one individual from Valley Resource Center Inc. dba EXCEED and an Adult Work Experience agreement. From there we Launched our Opportunity For All (OFA) Program which would be designed around providing on-the-job training and experience for members of our community with intellectual and physical disabilities. This was done in partnership with a variety of local vocational service providers like Westview Services, and Ability Counts. We realized that there was a need for more in-depth work studies to bridge the missing gaps needed for sustainable employment. So we developed and launched the #OFA Cohort paid internship program. With the Cohort Program, we grew exponentially and highlighted the need to turn our operation into a non-profit. We became Phenix Gateway, an officially registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to “-empower individuals with disabilities to secure employment through innovative job training programs and advocacy that removes barriers and promotes equal opportunity for all.” #Empowerment #PhenixGateway #OurStory #Neurodivergent #Neuroinclusive #OpportunityForAll #EqualOpportunity

We were delighted to distribute over 200 tickets to local nonprofits and other supporters of this remarkable community—a group that truly deserves more recognition for their contributions. A few years ago, inspired by Phenix Technology, Inc.'s, Better World Initiative, the company set out to create a meaningful opportunity for someone facing significant employment barriers. The journey began with Angel Sanchez, Jr., the CEO of Phenix Technology and now President of Phenix Gateway. Angel, deeply inspired by his aunt with Down syndrome, had an early experience as a manager at a pizza restaurant where he hired a young lady with Down syndrome. This experience not only provided her with a valuable opportunity but also enriched the workplace with a culture of patience, love, and understanding. This impactful experience fueled Angel's and the Phenix team's desire to create similar opportunities, which would eventual lead to the formation of the Phenix Gateway non-profit. What started as a simple gesture has blossomed into an organization dedicated to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment that empowers individuals to thrive. The Phenix Gateway is committed to continuing this legacy, providing educational and job readiness training to individuals with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, and creating workplaces where everyone can experience the same joy and independence.
