关于我们
Pheasants Forever is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs. At the heart of Pheasants Forever is the unique grassroots system of fundraising and project development that allows members to see the direct result of their contributions. Pheasants Forever and its quail division, Quail Forever, empower county and local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this truly grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers are able to see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy.

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever’s Public Access to Habitat Program Announces Nationwide Expansion This weekend at National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic, Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever were joined by national sponsor onX Hunt to announce the expansion of its?Public Access to Habitat?(PATH) program to a national scale. Piloted in South Dakota and Nebraska over the past year, the program established 65,000+ acres of access to private lands featuring quality habitat and increased hunting opportunity for upland birds, waterfowl, and big game species. In South Dakota and Nebraska, The PATH program provides a financial incentive for ranchers, farmers and landowners to voluntarily enroll high-quality CRP, rangeland, shelterbelts, wetlands and other habitat types into a multiyear (variable per state), walk-in hunting agreement. Landowners are compensated with a sign-up incentive directly from Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever. At its core, the program supports a very simple equation: More Habitat & Access = More Hunters = More Dollars for Local Economies. The PATH program can also be tailored in various ways to address specific access barriers - willing landowners, funding, or staff capacity - in states throughout the pheasant and quail ranges. “Our track record for year one of the PATH program was nothing short of incredible,” said John Laux, habitat protection programs manager for PF & QF. “The feedback we received from landowners, hunters, and local businesses was a proof statement supporting our expansion for the future. Thank you to onX Hunt, local chapters, state agencies, and other partners who have invested in their communities through the PATH program. We are currently discussing the expansion of PATH with partners in other core pheasant and quail states, and funding is now available for expanding access opportunities thanks to our tremendous partners at onX Hunt.” Read the full story at https://lnkd.in/gX8g6vA6 w/ onXmaps, Inc.

Quail Forever 25th Anniversary Print & My Adventure in Conservation By Christa Newberry If conservation matters, why should it matter to me? And why does it matter to you? These were the questions I asked of the Quail Forever team when we first began the project for Quail Forever’s 25th Anniversary Print. I wanted to know what brought each of them to the table, and how their work affected my life. As someone who knew little to nothing about conservation, I needed to sort through what they could tell me in order to arrive at an understanding that would help me find the purpose for the piece. Three Ways to Combat Woody Encroachment Woody encroachment is one of the primary threats to upland habitat and grazing land today. Nearly 8 million acres of intact grassland habitat in the US is threatened by woody encroachment, according to the?Nebraska Great Plains Grassland Initiative of the federal Natural Resources Conservation Service. In fact, according to the National Wildlife Federation,?grasslands are now disappearing at the same rate as rainforests. "A lack of woody encroachment control inevitably leads to compromised grasslands which ultimately contributes to the demise of wildlife species that depend on those grasslands," says Logan Cares, habitat specialist for Pheasants and Quail Forever. Combating and reversing woody encroachment can be accomplished using a variety of methods. The following approaches, especially when combined, can help restore grassland habitat to a more productive state. Read the full story at https://lnkd.in/gywwtAUs
