PGI Cares recently made a donation to Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational Christian organization that provides aid to people in need around the world. Our donation will help to provide relief to those impacted by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Relief efforts from Samaritan's Purse include airlifting supplies to those cut off from traveling, ground transportation, tree work, mudding out homes, clearing roads, and tarping roofs. Critical supplies, such as generators, heaters, food, fuel, solar lights, and blankets have been delivered on behalf of Samaritan's Purse. During a time of critical need for so many people across the east coast, it is an honor to support an organization that leads with a helping heart.

As we look ahead to 2025, several key changes to 401(k) plans are set to take effect. With this in mind, we wanted to share two key impacts for employees: ? Increased Catch-Up Contributions – Starting in 2025, individuals aged 60 to 63 will see a boost in their catch-up contribution limit for 401(k) plans, increasing to the greater of $10,000 or 150% of the standard catch-up limit, with the amount indexed for inflation. The standard catch-up limit for those aged 50 and older will remain at $7,500. ? Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) Changes – The RMD age increased to 73 as of 2023 and is set to rise further to 75 by 2033, providing more time for retirement savings to grow before distributions are required. If you have any questions or want to discuss how these updates might impact your financial strategy, don’t hesitate to reach out. We're here to help.

As 2025 approaches, several important updates to 401(k) plans will take effect. With this in mind, we wanted to share one key impact for employers: ? Automatic Enrollment – New 401(k) and 403(b) plans will require businesses to automatically enroll eligible employees at a minimum contribution rate of 3%. This aims to boost retirement savings by making participation the default option. If you have any questions or want to explore how these updates might impact your financial strategy, our team is here to help.

Major life events like getting married, buying a home, or having a baby bring significant adjustments — and tax implications! Here are general questions to ask for each circumstance: - Getting Married: What's the best filing status for our financial situation? Should we update our withholding? - Buying a House: Do I get a tax break when I buy a house? - Having a Baby: Will I be eligible for the child tax credit? - Changing Jobs: I'm making more money. Should I bump up my withholding? - Sending Kids to College: Can I claim tax credits and deductions for education-related expenses? Does it make more sense for my child to take the credits? - Going Through a Divorce: What filing status do I qualify for after a divorce? - Getting Ready to Retire: Should I be concerned about the tax implications of required minimum distributions? Will I pay tax on my Social Security benefits? If you've recently experienced a significant life change or expect to, we’re here to help answer these questions, with guidance tailored to your unique situation. Feel free to reach out anytime.

Tax season will be here before you know it! Here are a few tips to avoid tax-time stress: - Stay Organized: Use an expense tracking app or spreadsheet to record and categorize expenses. Set up a filing system for financial documents and calendar reminders to avoid missing due dates. - Plan Deductible Purchases: Consider moving forward with deductible items before year's end, such as education expenses, home office costs, or medical expenses. - Maximize Retirement Contributions: Contribute to your 401(k) or IRA accounts to reduce your tax burden. 2024 limits are $23,000 for a 401(k) and $7,000 for an IRA, with extra contributions allowed for those 50 or older. - Check Your Credits: Take advantage of tax credits for education, energy-efficient home improvements, and electric vehicles.
