Rasoul Madadi leads the P&G Chemicals Team at the P&G Singapore Innovation Center (SgIC). He grew up in a family of ten children, survived two revolutions, served four product categories, and worked in six cities around the world. ? During our Learning Tuesday session last week, he shared his reflections on another remarkable number: The conclusion of his 34-year career at P&G. ? What has kept him at Procter & Gamble? From the beginning, he was entrusted with the responsibility to lead large projects and was given the freedom to execute his ideas and learn from failure along the way. This fostered a spirit of curiosity and discovery, enabling him to pioneer a series of breakthroughs in global manufacturing capabilities that have been vital to multiple billion-dollar brands. ? Eleven years ago, he accepted an assignment in Singapore. He had only planned to stay for two years. ? What has kept him in Singapore? He attributes this to the P&G Singapore Innovation Center and the vibrant culture of Singapore. “You may not realize it, but the culture, energy, talent, and ecosystem here are unmatched anywhere in the world,” he shared. ? He spoke from deep knowledge, having worked closely with the HR team to recruit and mentor many of the scientists in the room, who listened with rapt attention. ?? He credits his family with planting the seeds of this passion. In their modest childhood home, he and his siblings studied together in the same room under their mother’s caring eye, allowed him to learn advanced concepts from his older siblings. Their remarkable academic achievements often earned them features in local newspapers. From a young age, he worked in his father's bakery, acquiring skills he continues to practice today as a baker, brewer, and chef. He also learned the values of community care and perseverance from his mother, who ingrained these principles in the family. ? Over the years spanning his time in North America, the UK, Egypt and Singapore, he has fostered ties with universities and recruited hundreds of talented P&G scientists. He has also established technical communities that have endured for decades since, producing breakthrough innovations and nurturing new generations of innovators. “Give back, and give back some more,” he urged his audience. ? As he concluded his speech, colleagues, mentees and friends lingered to hug him and shake his hand, many with tears in their eyes. ? Thank you, Rasoul, for the lasting impact you’ve made on #thefuturemakers. ?#singapore #innovation
