Our 2024 Special Awards Ceremony was held this past Saturday at Tumble Brook Country Club. We gathered to celebrate and honor all of our very deserving award recipients - Tom Pannier, Philip Krick Jr., Alex Cavaliere, Tom Rosati, Jordan Gosler, Jacob Rotherham, William Wallis, Sean Busca, Dan Harrison, Brian Murphy and of course the highest honor, Golf Professional of the Year, Howie Friday! Junior Golf season is right around the corner so that means it’s time to welcome our new 2024 interns! Join us in welcoming Brett Chodos, Allie Currie and Kiley Feeney! They will be working with Tim on the Junior Tour and helping us with events throughout the summer, we are excited to have them on the team!?

The Connecticut Section unveiled its new Mentor Initiative Program today with a kick-off session at the Golf Center at Lyman Orchards.?Twenty-one Associates/Qualifying Level professionals attended the session which began the networking process for all.?The session was led by Secretary John Dipollina and Membership Committee member Bryan Mooney with support from PGA Career Consultant David Wilson and Chief Membership Officer Dennis Dungee. ? The key points delivered today… ? Accountability – Find someone to hold you accountable to move through each level of the process. Networking – The PGA of America is a network of people who love the game golf. Play Golf, Attend Meetings and Education Sessions – This is where you will find the network of people.

We are excited to announce and congratulate Timberlin Golf Course for being named the recipient of our 2024 Walter Lowell Public Golf Course Distinguished Service Award!! This award is to recognize dedication to the promotion, advancement, and accessibility to the game of golf! They will accept the award at the upcoming Walter Lowell tournament later this month! This past Tuesday, more PGA Professionals completed the PGA HOPE Instructor Training to become certified to teach in a PGA HOPE program! They learned different aspects of military cultural competency and different techniques to teaching golf to Veterans who may have physical or mental disabilities. Thank you so much to Judy Alvarez, PGA for coming out and doing an awesome job training and preparing these professionals to teach this program! Thank you also to 2 of our PGA HOPE Ambassadors, Michael Slater and Ralph Mayo Jr. who also came out to support and encourage those getting certified! PGA HOPE Connecticut Spring sessions are right around the corner and we can’t wait to welcome in more Veterans and give back to them for what they gave us!
