DID YOU KNOW:? The Highland Heights PetWow would LITERALLY not be where it is today, if the amazing community of pet-parents hadn't shown up to support it's founder Dr. Raymond D. Stamper in the 1970's?? Dr. Stamper had been operating his small business from his home, but as his client base grew, he needed to construct a true animal hospital. However, he was met with strong opposition from the city council of Highland Heights. The council was proposing a new zoning ordinance which would inevitably result in the shutdown of Stamper's practice. This is when the community stepped up big time for their local vet practice. Choosing to take the fate of his practice into his own hands, Dr. Stamper and his wife Jill called and wrote to all of their clients asking them to show up to the city building to disuade the council from passing the zoning ordinance. The results were astounding. On the day the ordinance was to be discussed by the council, so many clients showed up to the city building that the doors to the front entrance couldn't be closed. Those clients who could not make it to the city buidling sent in letters and signatures demanding that Stamper be allowed to practice veterinary care at his current location.?? This resounding confirmation of the difference Dr. Stamper's practice had made in the community changed many votes and eventually resulted in his being able to construct the building that stands at Highland Heights today. ?We love our community and we are so thankful for all the support shown to our practices throughout the years. Whether it was standing up for Dr. Ray Stamper's right to practice in Highland Heights, or continuing to support our company during the difficult Covid years, our community has always had our back, and we are so grateful for the love and support they have given us. For context, one day while working at Highland Heights, the bathroom door handle had a malfunction, leaving Dr. Frantz stranded until help and tools arrived! It lead to many a laugh, and some good natured joking with Dr. Frantz! ??

As the first day of spring comes closer (fun fact, it's March 20th), it's a good idea to start keeping an eye on your fur-baby to make sure they aren't developing any allergic symptoms. Many pets will develop "hot-spots" which they will try to soothe by licking, biting, or scratching - inevitably making it worse.? Catching allergies BEFORE they start to develop nasty symptoms can help your fur-baby avoid a lot of discomfort. If you notice that your pet has red itchy eyes or skin, or is constantly sneezing and having a runny nose, contact your vet to figure out what the right next step for you and your pet is. ?
