B-E-T-T-E-R This week, I witnessed a moment that moved me to tears and reaffirmed the profound impact of pet therapy. During a visit, we entered the room of a tearful resident, accompanied by her speech therapist. Recently diagnosed with ALS, she’s been losing her ability to speak. But Kiley sensed her need for comfort. Without hesitation, she snuggled close, showering her with kisses and even coaxing a laugh with her gentle pawing. After a few precious minutes, the resident carefully spelled out on her letter board: “Better” and “Thank you.” That single word—better—hit me hard. It was a powerful reminder of the peace, joy, and healing a therapy animal can bring, even in the hardest moments.

Dogs have a unique way of connecting people in all walks of life ?? We had the pleasure of supporting this connection thanks to the team at 3rd Plus, who invited Petworthy to join their booth at the LeadingAge conference last month. We had the absolute joy and honor of being a part of the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Caring & Coping workshop this week. Petworthy joined the discussion panel on adding fun to caregiving days and shared tips on incorporating pet therapy into daily routines. Kiley was right by our side, bringing comfort to caregivers throughout the day?? The rest of the panel covered wonderful ways to add music, movement, and laughter to caregiving. Lucy is a calm, affectionate, and gentle lap dog who is already excelling in her training. With her loving nature, she’s the perfect addition to our therapy team. As she progresses through her certification, Lucy will soon join Kiley in bringing comfort, joy, and support to our clients.
