Before the walk, we’ll be at the Brain Health Bonanza, sharing the incredible benefits of pet therapy for those living with Alzheimer’s. Alzheimer’s Tennessee is an amazing nonprofit that provides essential resources and education for families navigating Alzheimer’s. As an ER nurse, I’ve seen firsthand the impact this organization makes—offering families support, guidance, and resources to help them through the challenges of caregiving, new diagnoses, and grief. Our next therapy dog “Read with Me” event at the Main Library is Friday 2/21 from 9:30-10:30am ???? Kids will have time to practice their reading skills with Kiley in the Children’s area. Research has shown that the calming presence of a therapy animal can promote reading skills and reduce anxiety when learning. As I reflect on this past year, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible journey Petworthy has been on. When I started this business last year, I never imagined the level of support, encouragement, and connection we would find in our community. Some of our 2024 highlights include: ?? Forming partnerships with multiple nursing homes and care facilities ?? Building meaningful relationships with our one-on-one clients and their families ?? Speaking at Alzheimer’s Tennessee Caring and Coping Workshop and at Belmont University about the benefits of pet therapy ?? Welcoming a new dog to the Petworthy family to begin training as a therapy dog ?? Collaborating with a company at a major healthcare conference ?? Being honored with a position on the Williamson County Geriatric Council Board As we look ahead to 2025, we’re excited to continue serving the greater Nashville area and making a difference, one visit at a time.
