The Veterinary Medical and Surgical Group (VMSG) teams worked together to make a huge difference in this cat's life. Mykee, a 10 year old Somali cat, presented to their Neurology team with recent seizures and underwent an MRI scan that revealed a meningioma in his brain. After careful discussion with his committed owner, Dr. Higgins and the Neurology team partnered with the Surgery/Anesthesia team of Dr. Simpson and Emily (who is preparing her VTS in Anesthesia). Together they performed a craniotomy procedure and removed the tumor... completely!! This is one of the most challenging anesthetic procedures (no gas inhalant was used) along with a very intricate surgical removal. Our surgery team at NVS had the privilege of helping Aris, a brave K9 officer, who was diagnosed with gastric dilation volvulus (GDV). GDV, often referred to as bloat, is a life-threatening condition where the stomach fills with gas and twists on itself, cutting off blood supply. This condition requires immediate veterinary attention.
