The Pet Food Institute (PFI) has joined more than 100 U.S. food and agriculture companies and organizations in sending a letter of support to the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry Committee for Luke J. Lindberg’s nomination to be the next Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs at the USDA. ? The letter, addressed to Committee Chair Office of U.S. Senator John Boozman (R-Ark.) and Ranking Member Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), urges the Committee and the U.S. Senate to promptly confirm Lindberg, who currently serves as President & CEO of South Dakota Trade. ? After exponential growth in #PetFood exports since 2020, U.S. dog and cat food products are now shipped to over 90 countries. As pets continue to be seen as valued members of families and pet owners seek to provide their pets with complete and balanced commercial pet food, significant opportunities continue to grow in international markets. PFI supports and engages with both U.S. and foreign governments to secure, maintain and expand access to critical markets worldwide.? https://lnkd.in/gGUq2gEG

PFI supports the Agriculture Export Promotion Act of 2025, which would provide the funding needed to promote US pet food on a global scale.
Representative Dan Newhouse (R-Wash.) recently reintroduced the Agriculture Export Promotion Act of 2025 to increase funding for the USDA’s Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development Program (FMD). Increased funding to these programs could increase agricultural exports (including #petfood), support rural economies, and create new opportunities for US agricultural businesses. “Boosting exports of pet food and treats is critical to ensuring continued market growth,” said Dana Brooks, president and CEO of the Pet Food Institute. “This legislation would benefit US pet food makers by supporting them in maintaining and expanding their global presence.” Continue reading on the legislation: https://ow.ly/IUt750UY5Xo #petfoodindustry #trade
