4 Key Health Insurance Regulatory Changes You Should Know About Navigating the evolving healthcare landscape can be challenging, but staying informed ensures compliance and better decision-making for your clients. Here are four key regulatory changes for 2025: 1. Network Adequacy Standards CMS is strengthening network adequacy requirements for state-based marketplaces. Starting in 2026, plans must meet federal standards for time and distance for services. This initiative aims to ensure that enrollees have reasonable and timely access to healthcare providers. (cms.gov) 2. Essential Health Benefits (EHB) Changes States now have greater flexibility to include adult dental coverage in EHBs, with the possibility of adding adult dental benefits beginning in 2027. 3. Telehealth Regulations Key updates to telehealth include the end of audio-only CPT codes and expanded access to behavioral health services. However, Medicare’s geographic restrictions will resume for non-rural areas in 2025. 4. Permanent Special Enrollment for Low-Income Applicants The special enrollment period for low-income applicants will now be permanent, allowing year-round health insurance enrollment for these individuals.
