关于我们

PERTS uses research-based techniques to raise students' motivation and achievement. Our programs have improved grades and reduced the racial achievement gap at multiple schools. They are designed to change how students think about school in ways that enhance their motivation and achievement. Background Studies by Stanford Professors Carol Dweck, Geoffrey Cohen, and Greg Walton show that short psychological interventions can raise students' motivation and reduce group-based achievement gaps. Because of limited resources, however, few schools could benefit from these interventions. Mission We started PERTS to make the latest research-based behavioral interventions accessible to all schools. We continue to test our programs to better understand when, how, and for whom they are most effective.

Exit tickets are one of the most common ways to evaluate students’ mastery of objectives at the end of a lesson- but have you tried reflection exit tickets? Reflection exit tickets can expand the purpose of learning beyond the classroom by allowing students to connect what they learn in school and their lives.? Some questions you can include on reflective exit tickets are: ?? What was your unique contribution to the team exercise today? ?? What contributed to your biggest improvement between today’s quiz and the one from two days ago? ?? Which recent topic have you found most interesting? What else do you want to learn about it? How will you incorporate reflection exit tickets into your classrooms? #PERTSInsights

Students learn more effectively when it is clear to them what they are supposed to be learning and how it fits into the big ideas of the subject area. Our research shows that students' learning is positively impacted when teachers set and communicate clear, concrete goals and objectives. Assessments often have a bad reputation with students. Though educators can articulate some of the ‘positive’ purposes for testing, assessments are evaluative and stressful for most students. They represent a way to sort students into categories from high achievers to low achievers but miss evaluating the learning process.? Reframing your formative assessments as a tool to help you learn more about your students can help you achieve this. You can use virtual quiz tools, interview assessments, or even self-assessments! #PERTSInsights What formative assessments do your students enjoy?
