Promoting a culture of safety, health, and environmental improvement in the oil and gas industry in the Permian Basin.
关于我们
The Permian Basin STEPS Network is a chapter of the National STEPS Network. STEPS is an acronym for Service, Transmission, Exploration, & Production Safety. We are a group of HSE professionals in the oil & gas industry who meet to network, learn and promote a unified culture of safety. The goal of this organization is to promote health, safety, and environmental improvement in the Permian Basin, and to foster a work environment that relies upon open communication and trust. Throughout the year, the Permian Basin STEPS "STOP the Hurt Campaign " is a mission that promotes Stop Work Authority in the Oil and Gas Industry. Stopping jobs that could result in injury and possibly the loss of life is a must to every Oil and Gas Industry employer. PBSTEPS, by contributing monetary awards to employees of these employers for stopping work that could injure or cause death; will raise awareness and promote Stop Work Authority. Five (5) participants will be selected from all entries to receive awards. These 5 will be selected by the PSTEPS Executive Committee. The Permian Basin STEPS Network meets the second Tuesday of each month from 8:30am-11:30am at Midland College in the Scharbauer Student Center Carrasco Room (3600 N Garfield Midland TX 79705.) Our meetings are open to any company, independent, or personal representative concerned with the safety of our oil and gas employees across the Permian Basin. Meetings are sponsored by our member companies. For more information regarding PBSTEPS, STOP the Hurt, or details on how to get involved as a member, presenter or sponsor; please contact the Permian Basin STEPS Vice President Lindsay Ramirez at 432-260-7040 or [email protected]

Today is World Mental Health Day "Research shows that workers in the oil and gas industry suffer from anxiety and depression more frequently than the general population. Workers in this sector are under particular pressure to avoid mistakes as these can have serious consequences including the loss of lives and environmental destruction. Furthermore, offshore workers spend long periods away from family and friends which can result in isolation, loneliness, frustration and dissatisfaction with the job." -?Carolyn McVey, Senior Account Manager, Lockton. As Daniel Radabaugh mentioned in his presentation at Permian Basin STEPS this week, when someone is not present at work, you shouldn't be asking "where is he/she??" you should be asking "HOW is he/she"? As I mentioned in a previous PBSTEPS meeting, you need to get to know your people. Know their story, understand their "why", know the names of their significant other, their children, learn what they do to celebrate their wins. If you don't know two or more of these things about each of your employees, you're an idiot. If you're offended by that statement - that should be a sign that you should do better and get to know your people more. So many people are fighting battles that they carry around every single day and have learned to mask their pain behind a smile; and in most cases, not one person asks them how they're doing. Take moment to talk to your people. It could change their life and more importantly, change yours. You could be the reason someone decided to keep fighting.
