I had the great pleasure to be invited to speak at a round-table event of regional business leaders by #BarclaysBank team Matthew Chenery Regional Relationship Director Garry Mckie Regional Manager Leeds, Yorkshire & Humber and Andrew Marsh Head of Corporate Banking South Yorkshire & Humber, supporting the team. ?? I was there in my capacity as the Make UK Regional Chair for Yorkshire & Humber, supported by Dawn Huntrod Make Uk Regional Director for the North. ?? Over the course of the evening, I shared the floor with Lee Collinson, National Head of Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics for Barclay's. Lee gave the room an overview of the current national climate within #manufacturing and the challenges and opportunities. I was able to give an overview of challenges but also rising stars of the #YorkshireHumber Region. More importantly the focussed and very much ‘live’ views’?being fed back to London, to the policy team and therefore into Westminster, by our Regional Board members. ?? After the two overviews we had a strong and informed debate on recent #governmentpolicy, the expectation for the launch of the #manufacturingstrategy, but the ever increasing uncertainly of #geopolitics and how business can navigate the unknowns. #Skills and #apprenticeships were as ever ‘front & centre’ in the debate as this is the 'foundation stone' for the future of our sector. ?? ?One thing is for sure, a stronger Manufacturing sector will drive the regional and #nationaleconomy helping to diversify #UKplc. I would like to thank the largely unsung heroes, the Make UK policy team for giving me all the key statistic and latest overview of the ever-changing #commercialtopography.
