As we celebrate #HispanicHeritageMonth, Rafael Melendes, Manager of Project Execution at Pepco, reflects on the importance of community and cultural exchange: “Hispanic Heritage Month (HHM) is a celebration of how far we’ve come as a community. I personally celebrate this month by attending as many HHM events as I can to learn more cultural traditions from other Hispanic communities. Following Hurricane Milton’s devastating impact in Florida, Pepco and Delmarva Power underground crews will join Duke Energy Corporation to support their power restoration efforts. Our underground crews are prepared to safely restore power to the affected areas, ensuring a quicker recovery for the community. Senior Manager of Underground Maintenance and Construction Robert Spelman, P.E. explains how mutual assistance is an essential collaboration that allows utilities to respond efficiently and effectively during major storms.

Meet the winners of our 2024 Sustainable Communities Grants! Yesterday, we proudly celebrated the opening of one of our new STEM centers built in partnership with the Exelon Foundation and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation to further advance our mission of powering the communities we serve. President & CEO of Exelon, Calvin Butler, President & CEO of Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, Steve Salem, President & CEO of Pepco Holdings, Tyler Anthony, EVP of Public Policy and Chief External Affairs Officer at Exelon, Colette Honorable, SVP of Governmental Public Affairs at Pepco Holdings, Rodney Oddoye, and more key leaders across Exelon, attended a ribbon cutting and tour of the new center. Earlier this year, we announced our commitment to opening 81 STEM centers across our service areas in partnership with the #ExelonFoundation and the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation – and we’re proud to be making great strides towards our goal! It’s an honor to be able to contribute to the #STEMEducation of our youth.

As part of our commitment to supporting communities in times of need, 18 Pepco lineworkers and 6 support personnel are heading to Georgia to assist Georgia Power Company in response to Hurricane Helene. Our Exelon sister utilities, Delmarva Power and Baltimore Gas and Electric, are also joining the effort. Mutual assistance is critical to ensuring reliable power across the country, and we're proud to be a part of this network.
