关于我们

People for Housing is a YIMBY group (Yes In My Backyard) advocating for increased housing production in Orange County. We are a non-partisan, policy-oriented, grassroots group that envisions an increase in the supply of housing as part of the solution to Orange County’s high housing costs. We believe the best way to ensure a prosperous future for Orange County is to create communities in which everyone can find an affordable place to live.

  • Why do people still show up at city council meetings demanding that new housing be denied when the law no longer gives local government that power? Join us for a lively and eye-opening discussion on how public misperceptions about discretionary authority are shaping (and sometimes stalling) new housing development. Through real-life stories from public hearings — like CEQA appeals and clashes between state and local laws —our panel of legal experts will break down what’s really happening, why the confusion persists, and how we can restore relevance to the public engagement process. If you care about the future of housing and how we navigate the entitlement process, this is a conversation you don’t want to miss! Click the event to get your tickets today!

    Urban Planner & Policy Advocate

Spent the evening in Garden Grove Planning Commission. (Who knew their parking ratio for 3 BR is 3.25?!?) That’s crazy, but this 26 townhome project by Brandywine Homes is moving on to city council in Garden Grove! It’s the first discretionary project I’ve seen in a while. (Thank you SB 330!) This one needs GPA, zone change and map. They worked hard to make it blend in with the surrounding 2 story multifamily. The planning commission did a great job of pointing out to the public how “reasonable” this project is by discussing how many units were possible (60-100 by some calculations) on the site. While I always want to see us #BuildMoreHousing, I’ve seen enough to know that maxing out the site is rarely good for any of the stakeholders involved. Grateful for these 26 one step closer to being someone’s home(s)!
