Product Manager Mission Network (PdM MN), Project Manager (PM) Tactical Network, and PdM Command Post Integrated Infrastructure (CPI2), PM Interoperability Integration and Services (I2S), supported the 1st Infantry Division command post exercise (CPX), which concluded last week at Fort Riley, Kansas. During the CPX the unit leveraged its newly integrated prototype commercial network on-the-move capabilities in preparation the Army’s Armored Formation Network On The Move (AFN OTM) Pilot II, to be conducted during the unit’s combat training center (CTC) rotations later in FY25. Soldier feedback from the pilot will inform Army decisions on the right mix of baseline network on-the-move and at-the-quick-halt capabilities to enhance speed of maneuver, survivability, and lethality for armored formations during multi-domain large scale combat operations. Headquartered at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, the Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, and Network (PEO C3N) is responsible for delivering a unified network that addresses the most critical operational needs and supports the Army of 2030. Critical to supporting the Army of 2030 and pivoting to the Army of 2040 is a less complex network that can support large-scale combat operations by enabling formation mobility, providing assured voice communications, a data-enabled common operating picture and digital fires and resist cyber and electronic warfare attacks. To advance this capability for the Army of 2030, PEO C3N is fielding modernized network communications gear; mission command and cyber understanding applications; network management tools; integrated command posts; network initialization capability and communications security technology to brigades and division enablers. In 2023 alone, more than 400 Army, Army Reserve and Army National Guard formations will be fielded with modernized network and mission command application technology. At the same time, we are planning to deliver additional technology improvements in FY25, including delivery of mobile command posts; more resilient network connectivity; unified network operations tools; mission command visualization; and data management tools across the division formation. As we design the network to enable the Army of 2030, rigorous acquisition practices, industry and S&T alignment, and engineering framework underpinning design and delivery will remain in place. There will still be frequent opportunities for industry to integrate advanced capabilities into the Army network design process. We will continue to leverage persistent experimentation and Soldier feedback, including from ongoing operations, exercises, and units fielded with modernized capabilities, to inform the network of 2030 design.

Product Manager Network Modernization (PdM NetMod), Project Manager Tactical Network, recently completed Troposcatter Transmission – Medium (TROPO-M) new equipment training and fielding for the First Unit Equipped (FUE) -- the 63rd Expeditionary Signal Battalion–Enhanced (ESB-E), 35th Corps Signal Brigade, at Fort Stewart, Georgia. The new more expeditionary TROPO-M provides beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) transport capability that will extend network range and significantly increase throughput, while greatly reducing size, weight and power (SWaP) requirements, compared to the current TROPO capability in the field. This versatile commercial system can operate in satellite denied environments, and it will increase multipath diversity, enhancing unit’s Primary, Alternate, Contingency, Emergency (PACE) communication options in congested and contested environments. One of the biggest advantages of the next generation TROPO-M is its lower latency compared to satellite capability, improving the performance of the network, especially for real-time applications. The Army’s new TROPO-M system enables BLOS capability without satellites and can diffract signals over mountains. It uses tropospheric scattering capability, which bounces signals off the Earth’s troposphere to provide high-capacity BLOS capability without using expensive and limited satellite resources. It also uses particles in the atmosphere as reflectors for microwave radio signals. TROPO-M reduces the Army’s over-reliance on satellites, while saving significant costs by reducing expensive commercial satellite airtime leases. Army Futures Command ASA(ALT) U.S. Army DEVCOM

The “Strike” Brigade led the Army’s Network Transformation in Contact this year by employing the new C2 Fix concepts into its Large-Scale, Long-Range Air Assault and maneuver capabilities. Collaboration between the unit and the Army’s network and C2 portfolio, aided by additional program offices, enhanced communications from air-to-ground and from foxhole to division, making the unit more mobile, lethal, and survivable against any adversary. https://lnkd.in/gR_rDmaX ASA(ALT) Army Futures Command U.S. Army DEVCOM C5ISR Center PEO Soldier PEO Aviation U.S. Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army Army Deputy Chief of Staff, G-6 Army Chief Information Officer 2nd Brigade Combat Team "Strike", 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) #ArmyModernization #ArmyNetwork #AirAssault #ScreamingEagles #L2A2 #STRIKE

Product Manager Unified Network Capabilities and Integration (PdM UNCI), Project Manager Tactical Network, recently facilitated a Sustainment Transport System (STS) risk reduction event (RRE) assessment, at Electronic Proving Ground, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, to reduce risk for the planned STS Initial Operational Test in fiscal year 2025. During the three-week RRE, the Army Test and Evaluation Command (ATEC) assessed all three STS programs of record: STS Satellite Communications (SATCOM), STS Line-of-Sight, and STS Wireless-Fidelity (Wi-Fi). These modernized easy to deploy network transport systems will provide the resilient, high-capacity network connectivity needed to enable the exchange of critical logistics information both locally and worldwide. #ArmyModernization Army Futures Command U.S. Army DEVCOM U.S. Army Sustainment Command

MULTIPLE PATHS LEAD TO NETWORK RESILENCY: One way the Army is enhancing network resiliency is through agnostic transport diversity, simply put, increasing the number of network communication pathways available to units. The more signal pathway options that exist for data to travel through, the more resilient the network becomes, keeping Soldiers and their commanders connected, informed and lethal. When ready for technical transition and fielding, the Next Generation Tactical Terminal (NGTT) will simultaneously leverage current and future Low Earth Orbit (LEO), Medium Earth Orbit (MEO) and Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (GEO) constellations and services, as well as multiple frequency bands, and high capacity terrestrial capabilities--with a single terminal, at-the-halt, at-the-quick-halt or on-the-move.
