This is how it started. They had the potential to make more money but didn’t know how to pull the right levers, or that they even had levers to pull. I re-built a system I'd used before that showed them how—and I did it for free. Granted, I was an investor, but it was free. And it worked. Then, I used my network to find another e-commerce company struggling with the same problem, which wasn't hard. They paid me a lot to help them get out of trouble. I implemented the same system. It worked again. Quickly. By the time I invested in turning that system into a formal product, the math was done, the model was was proven, and the roadmap was clear. The first functional version was ready in just four months and cost less than $50k (now would be even less with AI). It started as error-prone spreadsheets—clunky, manual, and painful. Now it's automated, packed with direct guidance and value, and inexpensive (so it can help more struggling eComms). If you, or someone you know, is struggling and/or running key operations in spreadsheets, stop. There is hope.

I get asked about patents a lot - we had over 40 when BottleKeeper? was acquired. In fact, it was a HUGE part of our acquisition - the private equity buyer didn't ask about our revenue or profitability until our fourth meeting, right before we got the term sheet. It was crazy. This video is an under 5 minute "How to" regarding getting and using patents. Share it with anyone that has ever said to you, "I've got this great new product idea!" One thing not included in this video, make sure you're IP attorney doesn't let newly issued patents close... This is absolutely critical -> make sure your IP attorney leaves newly issued patents "open" via continuation-in-process (CIP). They'll know what this is. If they ask you why, fire them immediately.
