Homeschool students had a special guest today. Yazan (or, as the kids called him, Sean) from Jordan was visiting the MESS Hall as part of an International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). The group had a chance to explore the museum, and Yazan wanted to see what the kids were up to. He even made his own brain cap as part of their study of human biology! Thank you, Gulf Coast Diplomacy, for including the MESS Hall in your programs.

We enjoy hosting IVLP visitors and are looking forward to the Hidden No More program on November 4. Make plans to join us and meet some amazing women in science from around the world. The event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is requested: https://ow.ly/O41k50TEGvL
Ella Marina Konan, a STEM expert and IVLP alumna from C?te d’Ivoire, is leading change in the field of STEM education and gender equality through her 2024 IVLP Impact Award project, "THE DECLIC: Boost Next Generation Women in STEM.” This project encourages young girls in secondary education to embrace STEM subjects and careers through immersive scientific experiences. By raising awareness about overcoming social prejudices and psychological barriers, Ella is creating a supportive framework for young girls to connect with female mentors in STEM and engage in practical STEM activities. Ella shared that her IVLP exchange experience in the United States led to the design of this project, “During my IVLP experience, I learned through our visits to STEM centers in Pensacola that teaching children about science, technology, engineering and math through hands-on experience propels their creativity and sense of innovation, and helps break the myth of science, especially for girls.” Read more about Ella’s IVLP Impact Award project here: https://lnkd.in/eVxxMk6z ? #HiddenNoMore?| #IVLP | #ExchangeAlumni - Alumni Affairs - State Dept.#ExchangeAlumni - Alumni Affairs - State Dept. | Institute of International Education | Gulf Coast Diplomacy | WorldChicago | International Citizen Diplomacy of Los Angeles (ICDLA) | #WomenInSTEM Pensacola MESS Hall

We are proud to announce that we received nearly $200,000 in funding for programs for our community. From our local estuaries to the furthest exoplanets, we are excited to share more science. We are particularly pleased that most of this funding is from the national level, including National Academy of Science, Institute of Museum and Library Services, and NASA.
