Our fearless leader, Sharon Pillar, recently sounded the alarm about another potential hike in electric rates in the Allentown Morning Call. She said that, "In 2025, already soaring electricity costs are predicted to surge up to an additional 29%. Larger consumers of energy such as municipalities, businesses and other organizations could see their bills jump by thousands to tens of thousands of dollars. And if Governor Josh Shapiro had not recently filed a complaint against PJM (our electric grid operator), things could have been even worse." Several innovative companies around the world are making what might be the perfect fence: enclosures consisting of vertically mounted solar panels with photovoltaic cells on one or both sides.? ? Solar fences give you privacy, security, and electricity. The clincher is how the two-sided panel design soaks in the rays all day long, resulting in up to 10% more energy production than rooftop solar panels. Roof-mounted panels absorb most of the energy in the middle of the day, but two-sided fence panels maximize sunlight in both the morning and the evening.? ? #solar #renewables #energy #solarenergy #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #solarpower #GETSolar? ? https://lnkd.in/e_CmrGEy??

A renewable energy company is exploring whether to build a new solar power installation at Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). Allentown-based Sanik Solar officials on Monday told the Lehigh Northampton Airport Authority it's in the early stages of creating a solar farm on about 61 acres. “These are small parcels that we can’t really do anything else with,” said Darren Betters, the airport authority’s business development director.? ? Churches often tower over their surroundings, their steeples glistening in the sunlight. Now a growing number of them are tapping that natural resource by adding solar panels to their roofs, spurred by?generous federal subsidies.?? ? For example, Solomon’s United Church of Christ in rural Chambersburg, PA, recently installed 30 solar panels, which will?cover its electricity consumption?and save it roughly $70,000 over 25 years.?The savings from the solar panels will be used to provide meals for school children, support the county’s homeless shelter and maintain the community garden that surrounds the church.
