GE Vernova announced it is planning to invest nearly $600 million in its U.S. factories and facilities over the next two years to help meet the surging electricity demands around the world.? ? The company is planning to invest more than $10 million in its Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, facility to expand capabilities across its Electrification segment. This includes planned funding to house a new domestic manufacturing line for the company’s FLEXINVERTER, a key technology for utility-scale solar and energy storage applications. The total investment is expected to create more than 270 new jobs, with the new line producing both the 1500V and 2000V FLEXINVERTER. This will help enable utilities to seamlessly connect renewable energy sources to the grid, ensuring stable and consistent energy supply for homes and businesses.? ? The potential of floating solar (FPV) generation capacity on U.S. reservoirs is estimated at up to 1TW, according to a study from the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory.? ? Published in the Solar Energy publication, the study estimates that the U.S. could add between 861GW to 1,042GWdc of FPV capacity on reservoirs across the country. In total, reservoirs could host floating?panels that would generate up to 1,476TWh of electricity.? ? Do you wish your?solar panels?could work overtime? Korean scientists made that possible by creating?solar cells?that capture visible and invisible light, which may transform how we harness the sun's energy, according to?Interesting Engineering.?? ??? The innovative hybrid cells combine two robust materials — perovskite and organic photo-semiconductors — to capture near-infrared light, a type of invisible energy that makes up more than half of the sun's power. Traditional solar panels miss this energy source entirely.??Keep reading here. ?? #solar #renewables #energy #solarenergy #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #solarpower #GETSolar????? ?? https://lnkd.in/dVdBsr2b??

Next Tuesday from?5-7pm, SolarCorps reconvenes! Join our 70+ volunteers to map the solar potential of Allegheny Central, starting with the Hill District, Uptown/Bluff, and Brushton/Homewood. Anyone from across the state can join us in this two-hour online session. It's easy to learn and your participation will help us identify more solar potential in communities. To date, the SolarCorps volunteers have mapped the solar potential of commercial entities in 45 communities, and we have identified an estimated solar potential of 845 project sites with 227 MW of potential solar and an estimated $614 million in savings over 25 years. When?Steelton-Highspire School District decided to go?solar with McClure Company, it wasn’t because of climate altruism. It wasn’t sustainability goals that drove it to convert its six school buses from diesel to electric, either.?Instead, the?1,377-student district, located in a?historic Pennsylvania steelmaking town where unemployment is high and tax revenue is low, has a?simple guiding principle, according to Superintendent Mick Iskric Jr.:?“We do things out of necessity. We’re?broke.” And solar will save them about $3.6 million over the next 20 years!? ? #solar #renewables #energy #solarenergy #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #solarpower #GETSolar? ? https://lnkd.in/dB7RpDYJ? ?

A new?study?in the journal Renewable Energy that looked at California’s deployment of renewable power highlights just how reliable the future of energy might be. It found that last year, from late winter to early summer, renewables fulfilled 100 percent of the state’s electricity demand for up to 10 hours on 98 of 116 days, a record for California. Not only were there no blackouts during that time, thanks in part to backup battery power, but at their peak the renewables provided up to 162 percent of the grid’s needs — adding extra electricity California could export to neighboring states or use to fill batteries.? ? #solar #renewables #energy #solarenergy #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #solarpower #GETSolar? ? https://lnkd.in/gtqRjVPt?

One developer says that solar farms are in fact “good neighbors” that make no sound beyond their perimeter fences, emit no nighttime light, require very limited on-site maintenance, and “go to sleep when the sun goes down.” Many sites are conducive to creating a pollinator and wildlife-friendly environment, such as grazing areas for sheep, like the arrangement at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in Selinsgrove.??Keep reading for more details here. ?? #solar #renewables #energy #solarenergy #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #solarpower #GETSolar???? ??? https://lnkd.in/eaxBE537??
