Celebrating 50 Years as The Keystone of Damage Prevention
关于我们
Pennsylvania One Call System, Inc. dba Pennsylvania 811 is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to minimizing utility service interruptions, reducing on-the-job injuries and deaths, promoting a higher level of public safety and protecting the environment. Since its inception in 1972, Pennsylvania 811 has increased its membership from 6 utilities in one county to over 3,700 underground facility owners/operators in all 67 counties. Use of service increased from 389 work location requests the first year, to a record breaking 1,046,498 notifications in 2021. Underground facility owners/operators follow the Common Ground Alliance (CGA) and American Public Works Association (APWA) Best Practices for Temporary Marking Colors when marking their underground utility lines. Pennsylvania 811 does not mark the underground lines. Pennsylvania 811 can be reached using the national call before you dig number 8-1-1 or through its toll-free telephone number 800-242-1776 by anyone requesting location of underground lines prior to digging. The service is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year. In addition, you may submit a locate request through their website: www.pa1call.org/notify at least 3 business days before you dig. Education and Public Awareness are a critical part of the service Pennsylvania 811 provides. Contact one of their Damage Prevention Liaisons to learn more about their educational programs, training and underground utility coordinating committees: www.pa1call.org/liaisons. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission (PUC) is charged with enforcing the One Call law in Pennsylvania, PA Act 287, as amended. www.pa1call.org/palaw.

Amidst the ongoing devastation of #HurricaneHelene and the looming threat of #Milton, our thoughts are with all those affected by these unprecedented storms. The scale of utility damage is staggering, and the restoration efforts ahead are monumental. At Common Ground Alliance, we're closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to support our members and partners in the affected regions. The resilience of our infrastructure and the safety of our communities are being tested like never before. To all the utility workers, first responders and volunteers on the ground: Your dedication and bravery in these challenging times are truly heroic. Your efforts to restore essential services and rebuild our communities are invaluable. As we face these historic disasters, let's remember the importance of damage prevention and infrastructure resilience. When the immediate crisis passes, we must come together to reassess and strengthen our systems to better withstand future challenges. For now, please stay safe, follow local authorities' guidance, and look out for one another. Remember to contact 811 before disturbing the ground in any way during restoration efforts – let’s not make a bad situation worse. Our community is strong, and together, we will overcome these challenges. #HurricaneRelief #811BeforeYouDig #InfrastructureResilience #UtilityWorkers #Locators
