We're celebrating 15 years of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its profound impact on PA! ?? Since its passage, the ACA has transformed health coverage for Pennsylvanians – expanding access, lowering costs, and ensuring that preexisting conditions are never a barrier to care.
?
As Commissioner Michael Humphreys put it:
“Gone are the days of limited coverage, preexisting condition exclusions, and kicking our children off our health plans after high school. Comprehensive health insurance has never been more affordable and within reach for consumers in the Commonwealth, and our department remains committed to ensuring our market remains robust to provide Pennsylvanians options that best meet their insurance needs.”
?
While we celebrate this milestone, we also recognize the work ahead. Without federal action, some key ACA provisions are set to expire in 2025, including premium tax credits. We must continue building on the progress of the past 15 years to keep Pennsylvania families covered and our communities healthier???
A huge thank you to The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Pennie, and Pennsylvania Health Access Network for joining us in marking this milestone, and to Hamilton Health Center for graciously hosting us!
