?? Major News:??? Governor Shapiro’s Administration just released its own study into reimbursement rates for in-home and other types of care, and it confirms what PHA has been saying for months and even years – Pennsylvania has no choice but to make major investments in the state budget to increase reimbursement rates for direct care workers and protect access to critical home care services for more than 400,000 aging and disabled Pennsylvanians. ? Already, more than 112,500 home care shifts go unfilled every month primarily due to staff shortages, and this crisis is rapidly worsening across the state. ? Since 2012, Pennsylvania has only increased reimbursement rates for this critical service $1.91/hour. That’s less than two dollars in more than 10 years.?Yet, small business owners and providers have born the responsibility of caring for this population and in the same time frame increased direct care worker pay rates $4.50/hour.?The dollars can not be stretched farther.?Action is needed to protect home based care. ?
