Today, on Overdose Awareness Day, we come together to honor the lives lost to overdose and to support those who continue to struggle. Pennsylvania has one of the highest rates of overdose deaths in the country, and it’s a crisis that affects us all deeply. At the PA Harm Reduction Network, we believe in a compassionate and just approach to drug policies. Our mission is to end overdose deaths, reduce drug-use related incarceration, and combat the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C. We strive to create a future where every Pennsylvanian who uses drugs is treated with dignity and respect. Join us in making a difference: Educate yourself and others about the realities of drug use and overdose. Support harm reduction initiatives that provide life-saving resources and support. Challenge stigma and advocate for policies that prioritize health and justice. Mr. Maloney said he has been pleasantly surprised with the response of the Plum paramedics and EMTs during training. Learning how to administer buprenorphine is one thing, but building rapport and trust with a person who may have negative associations with hospitals or with medical staff is another. The team, however, has gone from skeptical to “all in,” he said. “Everybody has been very open to the idea of, ‘What more can we do for our patients?’ This is a group of people willing to think outside the box, and I can’t give them enough credit.” https://lnkd.in/eNcGxQEK

Elvis is a seasoned public health professional, has dedicated decades to improving community health outcomes. His extensive experience in harm reduction and syringe service programs (SSPs) has made a significant impact on vulnerable populations. Elvis Rosado’s work has shown that SSPs create opportunities for engagement with marginalized groups, including people who inject drugs.
