Members of PCM come from all aspects of the dispute resolution field. They include administrators and volunteers at community mediation centers; mediators and facilitators who work with corporate and government clients; attorneys who offer mediation as an option to clients engaged in disputes about issues ranging from custody to business contracts; administrators of programs offering specialized dispute resolution services, such as special education mediation; and people involved in research on conflict management. PCM brings together individuals from across the state who share a common interest in mediation as an alternative form of dispute resolution. The work of PCM is carried out by standing and ad hoc committees, with overall policy and direction set by the Board of Directors. Our Mission The Pennsylvania Council of Mediators brings together individuals and organizations that share a common interest in mediation as the preferred form of dispute resolution. PCM strives to increase the use of mediation through: * Education * Increasing the demand for qualified practitioners * Providing a network for professional development

    Join us for an in-person conference! Connect with mediation colleagues! Learn new skills! Explore new developments in mediation! Obtain PA-CLE credits and Social Work CEs! Pre-Conference Training – Friday, April 5th – Jacqueline Font-Guzman, MHA, JD, PhD Disrupting and Connecting: An interactive workshop on the mediator’s role in social justice advocacy ? Our intent for this training is to co-create with participants an experience in which they can reimagine what is possible for them as mediators. We will explore how we can determine when and how to help people connect with those they are in conflict with as well as with potential allies. This training will invite us to reconsider our assumptions, values, and beliefs about the mediation profession. ? Dr. Font-Gutzman serves as the inaugural Vice President for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Professor in their Center for Justice and Peacebuilding. Her newest book (with Bernie Mayer, PhD) is The Neutrality Trap: Disrupting and Connecting for Social Change. Most Valuable Peacemaker Dinner – MVP 2024 is Susan Jordan – Friday, April 5th As the Executive Director of Susquehanna Valley Mediation Center, Susan Jordan has led engagement efforts to include mediation and related modalities in both the human services and justice. True to the collaborative and listening ethics of our field, Susan has worked with diverse system partners to articulate the reasons for mediation, share the vision and implement numerous new services. Plenary Session – Saturday, April 6th – Dr. Quaiser Abdullah ? Dr. Quaiser Abdullah, is an Assistant Professor in the Communication and Social Influence department at Klein College of Media and Communication, Temple University. He also serves as the Program Director for the Master of Science in Communication Management at Klein. His teaching portfolio covers undergraduate and graduate courses, including conflict resolution, mediation, conflict within educational systems, interpersonal communication, leadership, and organizational development. Dr. Abdullah will speaking on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: Questions and Challenges in Mediation. Conference Workshops- Saturday, April 6th To be announced at a later date! ?
