Founded in 1975, PCAR works to end sexual violence and advocates for the rights and needs of sexual assault victims. PCAR partners with a network of rape crisis programs to bring help, hope and healing around issues of sexual violence to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. PCAR: ? Assures that communities have access to quality victim services and prevention education by providing funding, training, materials and assistance to a network of rape crisis centers that serve all of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties. ? Provides resources and training on sexual assault-related issues to professionals across the Commonwealth. ? Promotes public policies that provide protections and services to victims of sexual violence, hold offenders accountable and enhance community safety, and works with media to increase public awareness, access to accurate information and ethical reporting practices. ? Operates the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC), which identifies, develops and disseminates resources regarding all aspects of sexual violence prevention and intervention.

Mission Driven. I recognize that there’s a lot happening across every area of our work, and I know this can feel overwhelming at times. In this space of uncertainty, I find it grounding to remind myself of the mission that drives us forward. Our purpose—to address and overcome the challenges of sexual harassment, abuse, and oppression while fostering a compassionate, just society for all—transcends politics and is a vision shared across every party and community. When I reflect on why I do this work, it gives me the motivation to show up fully each day. Our goal to prevent all forms of sexual abuse, harassment, and violence is not limited by political affiliations; it’s a collective responsibility, one that requires the effort and collaboration of all. Regardless of the outcomes of tomorrow’s elections, we know that the need for safer communities remains unchanged. SB 920, the Rape Kit Tracking bill has passed both chambers and is heading to the Governor's desk! Thank you Senator Langerholc for including us in this important piece of legislation. This bill will allow rape survivors to track their kits online, privately, which will provide piece of mind and accountability on the Commonwealth to ensure each kit is tested and accounted for.
