Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council (PCIC) is an advocacy organization acting on behalf of the Pennsylvania chemical industry. Our mission is to continually improve the business climate for the chemical and related industries through public policy advocacy, communication, and education. PCIC membership is an economical way for industry and firms who provide services to the industry to track Pennsylvania regulatory and legislative issues. There are also opportunities to network, share best practices and hear from policy expert guest speakers. Last week, Shell Polymers Monaca hosted PCIC members, industry and government leaders and economic development partners for an engaging and collaborative discussion on sustainability in the chemical and polymers industries. Our first panel focused on sustainability in practice including strategic reporting, product circularity, bio-based materials, and decarbonization. Our second panel centered on building sustainable partnerships and advanced recycling as a viable pathway to circularity. Our third panel highlighted sustainable packaging and the challenges and opportunities associated with advancing sustainable solutions. Pittsburgh Chemical Day is exciting to welcome Steve Kratz from the Pittsburgh Chemistry Industry Council to kick-off the 2024 #pittchemday Steven Kratz serves as the president of the Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council (PCIC), the premier statewide business organization representing the commonwealth's chemical industry. Working closely with the PCIC board of directors and council staff, Kratz oversees all operations, advocacy, and initiatives of the council. Kratz brings more than 18 years of political, advocacy and economic development marketing experience to the council, with an extensive background in advancing projects, policies and initiatives, and leading diverse coalitions. As PCIC president, Kratz collaborates with members to foster an economic and regulatory environment that encourages investment and growth in the chemical and related industries. In addition to his role with PCIC, Kratz is a senior director for Bravo Group, a Harrisburg-based public affairs and communications firm. Previously, he served as director of communications and press secretary for the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development and led or supported several political campaigns in southeast Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley.
