Yeseterday, PA CASA partnered with One+ Strategies to organize a meeting with the Central PA Delegation to discuss the critical role CASA plays in advocating for children in the child welfare system. CASA of Berks County was joined by CASA of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties and Dauphin County CASA to ensure that legislators across the region understand the importance of this work. Nancy McCullar, MSW, Executive Director of CASA of Berks County, met with Representative Johanny Cepeda-Freytiz and Representative Jacklyn Rusnock to discuss the impact of CASA volunteers in Berks County. These trained advocates provide consistent support for children in foster care, ensuring that their best interests are met. We appreciate Representatives Cepeda-Freytiz and Rusnock for taking the time to meet with us and for their dedication to children in Berks County.

These discussions focused on the role of CASA volunteers in advocating for children in foster care, the ongoing need for additional volunteers, and the importance of legislative support to sustain and expand CASA programs. Also pictured is Francis Rodríguez, Executive Director at Central Pennsylvania House Delegation. We appreciate Rodríguez’s help with the meeting coordination as well as One+ Strategies’ Lauren Orazi.

PA CASA and local programs located in Central PA met with the Central PA Delegation today to discuss the role of CASA volunteers in supporting children involved in the child welfare system. These conversations are an important opportunity to highlight the impact of CASA programs and the need for continued legislative support. Special thanks to One+ Strategies’ Lauren Orazi for helping to coordinate this meeting. Jessica Laspino, Executive Director of CASA of Lancaster and Lebanon Counties, met with Representative Ismail “Izzy” Smith-Wade-El and Representative Nikki Rivera to discuss how CASA serves children in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. With so many children in need of a dedicated advocate, CASA volunteers provide critical support to ensure their voices are heard in court. We appreciate Representative Smith-Wade-El and Representative Rivera for taking the time to meet and for their commitment to children in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties.
