It's Community Corner Wednesday! In cooperation with the Somerset County Foundation for Higher Education and Allegany College of Maryland, Somerset Trust Company recently announced the continuation of an early college education program, which allows Somerset County high school students to enroll in at least one early college course per semester, at no cost. For the 2024-2025 academic year, Somerset Trust was able to commit over $200K to prepare students for the post-secondary education atmosphere by allowing them to experience college-level classes in smaller, more intimate environments. It's Community Corner Wednesday! Last week, more than 250 employees of F&M Trust loaded approximately 300 backpacks with essentials for local homeless and at-risk veterans, as part of Totes for Hope, the American Red Cross of Greater Pennsylvania’s effort to support homeless, hospitalized, at-risk and resource deprived veterans in the community. The backpacks are provided to VA hospitals, community groups and nonprofits to get them into the hands of those who need them. Cybersecurity is a team sport. That’s why Treasurer Garrity joined Duncan Campbell of the Pennsylvania Bankers Association and Rick Cimakasky of Penn Community Bank to kick off Cybersecurity Awareness Month. They’re warning Pennsylvanians about the dangers of cyber fraud and offering advice on how to make sure their personal information is safe. Treasury is a major target for cyber criminals, and we have a special obligation to secure the Commonwealth’s financial information against cyber threats. We also work closely with Gov. Shapiro’s team to share our knowledge and expertise with local government agencies across the state. Treasurer Garrity urges all Pennsylvanians to take some time this month to make sure they’re secure from the criminals who want to steal their personal information. ??
