We recently hosted state and local leaders as well as nonprofit organizations at our York Wastewater Treatment Plant for an H2O Help to Others open house and information session. Our H2O customer assistance program can help low-income customers receive up to an 85% discount on wastewater charges and an 80% discount on their water usage, receive grants of up to $500 per household, and enroll in Pennsylvania American Water's new Arrearage Forgiveness Program, which helps customers pay off their past-due account balances. In the City of York alone, we estimate that just 4% of potentially eligible customers are enrolled in the H2O program. Last week, Pennsylvania American Water hosted teachers from several area school districts as part of The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce 's Educators in the Workplace program. The program places area educators with local businesses to learn more about job opportunities and skills needed in our local workforce. Teachers spent the day at our facilities to learn about various departments and toured Lake Scranton Water Treatment Plant.

Last week, our Lake Scranton Water Treatment Plant and Scranton Wastewater Plant hosted students from Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Connections to our Watershed. Students from eight Lackawanna County Schools toured each plant and learned about water and wastewater treatment, watershed protection, and careers in the water/wastewater industry.
