Join the Penn State EcoReps Program in observing the Earth Hour. Every year, millions of people around the world turn off their lights for one hour to raise awareness about climate change and encourage sustainable living, allowing reflection on how small actions can lead to big changes for the planet. Located at Old Main, the event will start at 8:30pm and end at 9:30pm with Old Main turning off it's lights alongside other notable landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Sydney Opera House. Make sure to stop by!?

We all need a break sometimes and science has proven that time in nature is critical for human health and resilience. Yet too many groups lack safe, welcoming access to the outdoors. Join Penn State Sustainability on Wednesday, March 5, at 7 p.m. (EST) for an online screening of two short films--"Resistance Climbing" and "Ascend"--about historically underserved groups connecting to the outdoors. A panel discussion featuring Penn State student outdoor leaders and faculty researchers follows. https://lnkd.in/e_g9WmTu

THON 2025 is here!! As the world's largest student-run philanthropy, THON understands the importance of protecting the planet. During THON, you may notice recycled posters from years past, donated towels for cleaning and athletic training, and volunteers in blue OPPerations shirts organizing waste sortation. During the event, you may notice waste receptacles, in partnership with Pepsi, around the Bryce Jordan Center's concourse with separate options for plastic and aluminum, compost, and landfill. To eliminate plastic waste, THON also allows attendees to bring empty reusable water bottles into the Bryce Jordan Center. THON is introducing a new sustainability effort this year. Zero Waste Event Productions is a company that specializes in waste sorting at large scale events like concerts and music festivals. The Zero Waste Events team will work on sorting the waste from THON, with potential to achieve a 90% waste diversion rate.?
