We wanted to share some important information and resources from trusted sources regarding bird health, especially as we enter the spring migration season. Please keep in mind that things may change as we move forward, so it’s a good idea for each Bird Town to stay in touch with their local health departments and official sources for the latest updates. As you may know, birds can carry diseases like Avian Influenza, commonly referred to as Bird Flu, which can affect not only other birds but also wildlife and even people. So, it’s vital to be cautious when handling birds—whether they’re alive or dead—and when cleaning your bird feeders. We encourage you to follow the safety recommendations provided by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the PA Game Commission, which are highlighted below. If you come across any sick or dead wild birds, please report them to the PA Game Commission at 1-833-PGC-WILD (742-9453). 1. Keep Your Distance:It can be tempting to get close for a better look or photo, but it’s best to observe wild birds from afar—especially waterfowl, shorebirds, and poultry. Avoid touching birds, their droppings, or nests. 2. Wear Protective Gear:If you’re working with birds in a rehabilitation setting or cleaning up bird droppings, make sure to wear gloves, masks, and appropriate clothing to keep yourself safe. And remember to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and hot water afterward! 3. Clean Your Feeders Regularly:Bird feeders can spread illness, so it’s essential to keep them clean. Scrub off any debris and soak them in a solution of 10% bleach and water for about 10 minutes to kill any germs. Rinse well with hot water and let them dry before refilling. 4. Stay Updated:Keep an eye on local health authority announcements regarding bird flu in your area. If you hear about an outbreak nearby, it might be wise to pause any birdwatching activities, especially in places where infected birds have been spotted. 5. Avoid Sick Birds:If you see a sick or dead bird, don’t touch it. Instead, report it to local wildlife authorities so they can investigate. 6. Practice Good Hygiene:If you’ve been in areas where birds or wildlife are present, always wash your hands with hot, soapy water and disinfect any gear you’ve used. For more information, you can check out the following resources: - Cornell Lab of Ornithology: [Avian Influenza Outbreak Information](https://lnkd.in/eZku3qN9) - PA Game Commission: [Wildlife Health Information](https://lnkd.in/efPuc3rU) Thank you for your attention, and let’s all do our part to keep our feathered friends safe while enjoying the beauty of nature!

On National Love Your Pet Day, we would like to send a reminder to all of our pet loving friends to… be a good pet owner :) Please remember to take care of your furry friends. Keep them on a leash when they are out doors, and pick up after them, too. If pet waste bags are not readily available in your community, please have one handy and be sure to dispose of it in an appropriate receptacle. Thank you for caring and loving your pets, and for loving your community, too. #penco #pencomanagement #pencomanagementcompany #community #communitymanagement #associationmanagement #communityassociationmanagement #pets #dogs #waste #wastepickup #dogwaste #loveyourpets #doglover #condo #hoa #condos #condolife #condoliving #condominium #condominiums #homeownersassociations #hoamananagement #homeowner #homeowners #boardmember #boardmembers #residential #propertymanagement

More snow, ice, and sleet are coming our way … Please be careful and make sure you are aware of your responsibilities for treatment of ice and snow. Remember if your Association handles snow removal, plows and shovels typically don’t drop or have services occur unless 2” accumulate and this storm is more of a nuisance storm than a storm we can expect to see this accumulation. Stay warm and safe. #penco #pencomanagement #pencomanagementcompany #snow #snowandice #SnowAndIceManagement #snowremoval #associationmanagement #communitymanagement #CommunityAssociationManagement #doyouwanttobuildasnowman

What can we expect today? Somewhere in the next few hours white stuff will start to fall from the sky. We can anticipate a few inches to accumulate overnight which will likely cause jobs and schools to close or make us work from home. Schools may use the famous "FID" day. Kids will be working on their laptops. Parents will be working with little sleep, helping children in-between trying to work from home. If you are an employer, be patient with your working at home employees. If you are a parent, be kind to your children who are trying to do the best they can to learn from home when they would rather be playing in the snow or at school with their friends. What we can expect: - Stuff will start falling from the sky between 2-5pm. - Accumulation of snow will start by 6pm tonight, stopping around 4am (2-4") Things to Remember: - Snow vendors do not drop plows or start shoveling until 2" accumulates. - If 2" is cleared and another 2" does not accumulate, the vendor may not return to drop plows or shovels again. - If your association provides ice melt product, utilize it to sprinkle on wet areas. Anything that looks wet may be icy; avoid walking on these areas. - If you see an icy condition (or snow accumulation) that requires attention, and it is a COMMON ELEMENT for the Community, please contact your community manager. - Avoid walking or driving in the snow and ice. Stay home if at all possible. - Don't order door dash or instacart during the storm. It can wait. - If you are walking in this weather, please keep your hands out of your pockets for balance, holding onto railings and sides of the car etc. for stability. - If you have to walk, be sure that you are wearing shoes that are intended for this weather and have proper tread. - If you are driving in this weather, leave ample time for travel. Expect delays. Leave additional distance between yourself and other drivers. Remember that on and off ramps, bridges, and over passes will freeze more quickly than regular roads. Pack emergency blankets, flash lights (check to make sure the batteries are working), and water in your car in the case that you break down. You never know how long you may be in your car and temperatures are extremely cold right now. - Bring home all items for your kids and yourself so that you are all prepared to have school and work from home - including charging cords, cell phones, etc. - Charge any battery packs for computers and cell phones in the case that power goes out at your home. - Be patient with the snow removal crews for both the local municipality and the Association. #pencomanagementcompany #pencomanagement #penco #communitymanagement #associationmanagement #CommunityAssociationManagement #communityassociation #community #communitymanagement #condominium #CondoLifestyle #hoa #hoamanagement #HomeOwnership #homeowner #boardofdirectors #SnowAndIceManagement #snowfall #snowday #snowman #snowandice #snowandicecontrol #snowandiceremoval #winter #winter2025

Unless you have ice powers, there's a good chance that this artic blast is not your style. But be prepared, because tomorrow afternoon into Sunday morning, we are expecting another inch of snow...and if pavements and sidewalks are not treated, there is a good chance it could freeze tomorrow night. If you live in a Community Association.... - realize that plows do not drop and shovelers are often not dispatched unless 2" of snow accumulates. - know your responsibility for removal of Snow and Ice, as some communities and municipalities have rules about how soon the sidewalks and/or driveways need to be cleared after the storm. - if you see an icy area in the common area, please report it to your community manager. During the Storm... - Try to avoid driving or walking. Take a break, stay inside, and look at the ice crystals glisten. - Bundle up in some pj's, turn on a movie, and drink some hot chocolate. - If you have to walk in this storm, please keep your hands out of your pockets for balance, hold onto any railings or the side of your car/car door, and wear proper shoes with proper tread intended for this weather. In your car... - have a flashlight with batteries that work! - have a first aid kit - have an emergency blanket or two - Keep a gallon of water You never know when you may break down and need help. Your car may not start, and you might get cold easily. Stay warm and safe. And get ready...for another 3"-6" storm next week! #pencomanagementcompany #pencomanagement #penco #CommunityManagement #CommunityAssociationManagement #community #CommunitySupport #communityfirst #communitymatters #communityassociation #communityassociations #SnowAndIceManagement #SnowflakesFalling #snowday #snow #snowfall #snowflakes #doyouwanttobuildasnowman #condominium #condominiums #condos #condolife #CondoLifestyle #CondoLiving #hoa #hoamanagement #homeownership #Homeowner #residential

A tricky storm system is approaching and may start around 7pm on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 and go into the morning of Thursday. This system is expected to bring snow, sleet, and rain. How the storm shifts will determine what it is we get most of....but it looks like the snow may be the least of the concerns with an anticipated accumulation of less than 1". The sleet will be dense and may require cleaning or treating of asphalt and sidewalks. Anything on the sidewalks or asphalt will need to be treated after it is cleared to help prevent re-freeze. THINGS TO REMEMBER: - know who is responsible for the removal of snow/ice and treatment thereof. - Some Municipalities require that homeowners (if you are responsible for your own sidewalk, walkways, etc.) clear the area within x amount of hours after the storm starts. Please review your municipality's rules on this. - If the Association is responsible for snow and ice removal/treatment, please be patient. Remember the contractor has to safely make it to your property (meaning roads etc. around the Association have to be able to be traveled on), and this tricky storm may require some tweaking of treatment at the last minute. - If you see an area that requires treatment (and it is a Common area), please contact your community manager for assistance. SAFTEY TIPS: - Try to stay inside during this tricky storm system. We never know how it will turn, and it is best to avoid the situation all together if possible. - Prepare to work from home. Bring home laptops, chargers, cell phones, any work product you may need. - If you don't already have your bread, milk, and eggs - you may want to place a door dash order today. (Try not to place these orders during a storm). - When walking, keep your hands out of your pockets for balance. - Please wear shoes that are intended for snowy and icy weather. - Please hold railings when walking, where they are able. - Hold onto your door getting in and out of your car to make sure you have your footing. Stay warm. Stay safe. #pencomanagementcompany #pencomanagement #penco #communitymanagement #CommunityAssociationManagement #communityassociation #associationmanagement #snowfall #snow #snowday #snowflakes #SnowflakesFalling #snowandice #SnowAndIceManagement #homeownership #homeowner #renters #tenants #landlord #snowman #doyouwanttobuildasnowman

Groundhog's day is the perfect time for us to remember we have an option to keep living our lives in the same continual circle, or, we can step outside of the every day norm, face our fears, conquer our anxiety, and make a change for the better - for us, and everyone in our lives. What's your choice today, as Gus advised us we will be receiving 6 more weeks of winter? #penco #pencomanagement #pencomanagementcompany #communitymanagement #communityassociation #communityassociations #communityassociationinstitute #associationmanagement #associationmanagementcompany #hoa #homeownersassociation #homeownersassociationmanagement #Community #communityfirst #residential #propertymanagement #propertymanagementlife #homeowner #homeowners #homeownership #homeownershipgoals #groundhog #groundhogday
