Crab Creek stands as a deeply personal project for our founder, Andrew Sheinman—a home he first designed and built for his family in the mid-90s, drawing inspiration from some of the Greek Revival architecture found on Shelter Island and in Sag Harbor. Several years ago, when a burst pipe flooded the home devastating the interior, the loss became an unexpected opportunity. Andrew embarked on a complete renovation, reimagining the residence with the insight and inspiration he has gathered over decades of design experience. This revitalization allowed him to refine every detail, integrate his evolving aesthetic vision, and create a setting for the art, objects, and furnishings that have become part of his journey. Pembrooke & Ives Founder Andrew Sheinman and his daughter Alexia collaborate on their New York refuge after a flood destroyed their family home. “A biblical flood,” as Andrew puts it, caused by a burst pipe in the attic, destroyed the entire home and most of its contents five years ago. “It was heart-wrenching in the beginning,” he says, “and then we embraced it and just went with it.” Putting grief aside, the family realized it was an opportunity to re-envision the house for how they wanted to live in it for the coming years.
