Yesterday a group of us went to tour the Warner Robins Air Logistics Complex, all thanks to RoboGeorgia. It's not often that you get to go on a field trip as an adult, so this was pretty sick?? I want to shout out Shane Groves in particular for showing us around. And thanks to RoboGeorgia's very own Milton Walker, Ward Broom, Tom Sammon, Robert Herrig, and Jeremy Fultz for setting this up. It was great seeing a bunch of my old friends and colleagues and meeting a number of new folks in the robotics and automation world - Colin Usher, Walker Byrnes, Roger Richardson, Cale Harbour, Kyle Brown, Sebastian Arias, Justin S., Daniel E. Mixed case palletizing is a complex problem. Many solutions involve layer-based solutions, where each layer is filled with only one SKU. For example, layer 1 contains all SKU A, layer 2 has all SKU B, and so on. However, if there are not enough boxes to finish the same SKU layer, the whole process fails. In this video, we demonstrate how we tackle the problem as a true 3D Tetris challenge, rather than using a layer-based method. The issue of finishing a layer does not affect this approach and allows for greater flexibility and efficiency in palletizing mixed case loads.
