Timely intensification of therapy is a foundational principle of contemporary management of type 2 diabetes (#T2D) to achieve optimal long-term outcomes. Evidence-based guidelines recommend treatment intensification if glycemic goals are not achieved within three months. However, fewer than 50% of people with T2D (PwT2D) receive this guideline-directed care. Weight loss, in addition to diabetes treatment intensification, has been shown to significantly improve outcomes, yet adequate weight loss is rarely achieved, and its benefits are frequently underestimated. As primary care professionals, where do we go next to improve our management of PwT2D? In the second in a series of three virtual workshops, collectively “The Office Hours Initiative,” Vanita R. Aroda, MD, will explore practical steps to overcome clinical inertia in the primary care setting. Learn the importance of intensifying T2D treatment to improve patient outcomes and the steps for selecting an appropriate treatment intensification strategy. You’ll also hear expert opinions and have a chance to discuss your challenging case examples. Register now for this cutting-edge event on T2D and weight management! Offered on December 3, 5, or 12. Submit your questions now and come prepared with challenging case questions for the office hours discussion in the last 30 minutes! https://bit.ly/T2DM-GL-F #MedEd #PrimaryCare
